URGENT BULLETIN.
[ The following is secured to the network at 9 PM, via an ID that has not been present on it yet, a simple non-interactive bulletin. It will not be responded to, although imPorts are free to engage in discussion amongst themselves. ]
ATTENTION IMPORTS!
It is come to our attention that Unsettled imPorts have been allowed to skirt our regulations regarding what benefits are and aren't received up to this month, which is a dire oversight on the part of your liaisons and supervisors. Upon discovering that the budget for imPort benefits received far exceeded the amount needed for the current amount of Registered imPorts we have on file, further investigation showed that many similar oversights have been provided for non-Registered imPorts off the books that have not been sanctioned by those of us outside of Cape Canaveral.
We are getting to the bottom of this and are making cuts in the budget where they should have been already: Non-Registered imPorts were never meant to be receiving these benefits for as long as they have been. Furthermore, upon questioning your current imPort Affairs Liaison, Captain Parc Holiday, he could not account for every inconsistency we've since discovered and showed some alarming signs of blunted affect and apparent memory gaps; those inconsistencies he claimed he could recall he admitted to committing.
Make no mistake, we in the Federal Government sympathize with the imPort plight, but we cannot afford to let free resources be given out illegally; Captain Holiday does not have the authority to make such decisions. Effective immediately he has been removed from his position as ImPort/Government Affairs Liaison and has been moved into a maximum security psychiatric facility to further study his symptoms. Until we can locate a suitable replacement or Captain Holiday proves himself truly fit to resume his duties, we are promoting Lieutenant Ananke to Captain so she can operate in his stead and will be keeping an eye on the situation as well as her performance to determine what other changes may prove necessary.

[He grumbles.]
Medication. Discussion therapy. Group therapy -- though I've always disliked that method. Gradual exposure therapy. Those are all normal kinds of treatment, typically implemented concurrently. And it's true that it isn't unusual for a violent sufferer to be involuntarily admitted. That just -- it isn't as common.
[Beat. As Chilton considers the next question.]
Oh, goodness -- those suffering from psychosis or debilitating delusions or anxieties need anti-psychotics because that is a chemical method of stabilizing ineffectual and damaged neurotransmitters. Medication fixes maladaptive neurotransmitter patterns by balancing them out. To invoke anti-psychotics on a normal brain is to risk brain damage. Tremors, slurred speech, cognitive problems -- those are all recorded side effects of a misdiagnosed, and thus mistreated, patient.
voice;
[ a flat kind of smarm, but nothing too harsh. psychiatry itself isn't what bugs him, it's more the doctors in general part, and the fact they said 'psychiatry' when it sounded like 'imprisonment'. he's had what the soldiers near the porter said rolling around in his head for weeks - "we're the good guys".
he's chewing at the inside of his lip while he listens to Chilton explain, committing it all to memory and turning it over in his head. simple things, therapy, medication, doctors' visits. and violent sufferers being committed. he's seen holiday speak on the network once, and there was nothing that stuck out as violent with him. nothing mentioned in the announcement about violence.
it's the last part, the clinical explanation of all it could entail, that has anxiety and apprehension rising in him. newt and grey had been talking about how this world is safer than what they came from, but by how much? ]
So Holiday could be a vegetable by the time anyone saw him again. [ the 'if' part of that is left out. it's rings as pretty disgusting to him, that someone could do that to another person, but it's hardly surprising. not much is surprising anymore. ] How long would it take to do irreversible damage?
voice;
[He's been betrayed by two specific individuals, both of whom reside in this world. Both he had considered to be friends, and both had proven themselves to be anything but. It was enough of a burden, courting friendship in the first place -- quite predictably, Chilton's narcissistic tendencies more often than not alienated him from most people, so much that now he only clutched onto individuals who had already proven their worth. This was not, however, the time to bring up Hannibal Lecter and Kate Bishop, not even remotely.
But those experiences would contextualize his skepticism and suspicion towards Thomas now. Chilton trusted neither the government nor the imPorts, but he could trust systems.]
It could be now, it could be weeks or months from now. All is dependent upon the patient's own brain chemistry, and how much dosage of what compound he would be given.
voice;
[ he's super polite. he's also spent all of the life he can remember (read: a few weeks) with a bunk of teenager boys, so manners and tact aren't his greatest gifts. he is observant, though, and this dude seems like he's permanently grumpy or something. so probably much less him being any kind of offended of thomas's dislike for doctors, and more just his... personality. charming.
it's not really his focus at the moment, though, more thinking about holiday and trying to figure any way to get to him before his brain turns all gooey. his hands pick at the worn cloth on his wrists, and there's a furrow in his brow, not that the doctor can see any of it. the comments are more a muttered, distracted thought, while the larger work is going on in his head. ]
And he could be anywhere in the country, could have left at anytime... If he's not totally gone, is there anything to give him that'd help fight it? [ an... anti-anti-psychotic? jfc. ]
voice;
[In reality, Chilton could be quite warm and endearing -- but only towards those few shining individuals whom he considered worth his own manners. Everyone else, the "common minds" as Chilton considered them, would either receive a brusque, dry, sarcastic retort -- or a neutral, polite demeanor. It was really up to how Chilton himself was treated, and if he perceived any insult (like disdain towards doctors), then he would turn sharper. If Thomas were observant of Chilton's interactions, he'd likely pick up on that fact. But with everything else on the forefront, it was understandable that such details wouldn't be received in this exchange.]
In a severe case -- no. Nothing guaranteed, I should say. Any brain damage inflicted might heal, but over time and effort. And that's only a maybe.
But what if he's given a lower dosage? Or, at least, an ineffectual dosage? Simply getting him off the intake would prove sufficient.
