URGENT BULLETIN.

[ The following is secured to the network at 9 PM, via an ID that has not been present on it yet, a simple non-interactive bulletin. It will not be responded to, although imPorts are free to engage in discussion amongst themselves. ]

ATTENTION IMPORTS!

It is come to our attention that Unsettled imPorts have been allowed to skirt our regulations regarding what benefits are and aren't received up to this month, which is a dire oversight on the part of your liaisons and supervisors. Upon discovering that the budget for imPort benefits received far exceeded the amount needed for the current amount of Registered imPorts we have on file, further investigation showed that many similar oversights have been provided for non-Registered imPorts off the books that have not been sanctioned by those of us outside of Cape Canaveral.

We are getting to the bottom of this and are making cuts in the budget where they should have been already: Non-Registered imPorts were never meant to be receiving these benefits for as long as they have been. Furthermore, upon questioning your current imPort Affairs Liaison, Captain Parc Holiday, he could not account for every inconsistency we've since discovered and showed some alarming signs of blunted affect and apparent memory gaps; those inconsistencies he claimed he could recall he admitted to committing.

Make no mistake, we in the Federal Government sympathize with the imPort plight, but we cannot afford to let free resources be given out illegally; Captain Holiday does not have the authority to make such decisions. Effective immediately he has been removed from his position as ImPort/Government Affairs Liaison and has been moved into a maximum security psychiatric facility to further study his symptoms. Until we can locate a suitable replacement or Captain Holiday proves himself truly fit to resume his duties, we are promoting Lieutenant Ananke to Captain so she can operate in his stead and will be keeping an eye on the situation as well as her performance to determine what other changes may prove necessary.

Is that a common power here? Clairvoyance?

It isn't unheard of among imPorts, but there's the rub.

We can't really know one of the imPorts aren't working with them, can we. Or being used.

...I would feel rather confident in thinking that we probably can. I think someone would have noticed that.

[ even though imports disappear back to their home worlds all the time and they've eventually come to accept it. yeah, they'd definitely notice anyone missing, kanaya. ]

ImPorts have died, or been sent back, right? If they could get whatever the government put in us out, they could fake either of those. [ or, the less savory thought. ] Or, they never left, and they're playing double agent.

I still think there's very little likelihood of anyone doing so deliberately. There's nothing to gain from it, not given what we've seen of their competency so far.

Which, speaking of competency, I highly doubt they'd be capable of reversing whatever nano-bonds or whatever you might call the process keeping the tattoos. But the tattoos have been stated to only work as locators in specific instances, according to what Holiday has told us.

Maybe. How much do we know about who and what the Hornets are? Outside of a resistance? Do they have a source or a sponsor, or just all anonymous?

If the technology exists, someone can duplicate it, and someone can improve on it. If they can intentionally target specific instances to work, then they can also make them work any time they want. It's just changing settings.

As the story goes, they were meant to have been native heroes before, when the last group of imPorts was still present on this world. After they were all returned to their respective home universes, these began operating from the underground, biding their time until the nee would once again arise for them to vie against imPort registration policies.

But while that all sounds well and good about the possible treatment of technology, I hardly think it's probably at the same time. Duplication and improvement requires more than the mere existence of a technology, but also an availability and expertise.

Looking at the equipment they had the other night, I'd say the Hornets are very direly lacking, compared to the Russians.

[ a russian with a nullifier field almost killed her once. but the hornets with their dampening collars? they never stood a chance. ]
