A person can only manifest a Stand as powerful as their spiritual strength can support. Even if a Stand were changed in some way - altered through external intervention... if the spirit of its user can't support its strength, then the user will only die or be rejected.

All of this is true. And spiritual potential doesn't necessarily run in families, at least not directly... but it can, in some cases!
