Sadly, Captain Holiday was put under intensive care not long before I ended up here so I never got to talk to him. But I was hoping some of you might have gotten a chance to contact him before that. If you have, I'd appreciate if you could tell me about your conversations with him.

You don't have to tell me what the conversation was about, I understand a lot of them were confidential. [That word, he hates it. Lois might see it as a sign that she's pulling the right strings but Clark only sees it as a wall he cannot punch or fly over.]

It's really him I'm interested on. If you noticed anything weird in how he behaved, perhaps, or if he was acting completely normal.

[He pauses for a second. And then:]

I'd also be interested in talking with people who've been able to take a look at the Porter, or been in contact with it. I understand it's a privilege to be allowed near it?

I'll make time. Whenever it's convenient for you, just contact me here. I'm particularly interested in seeing what the government has to tell to those who've registered.

As far as they are concerned they are the ones who are jumping through the right hoops, even though it should be obvious not everyone who register is going to do it out of loyalty. [He actually knows some registered imPorts couldn't give less of a damn about the government if they tried. But it is a way to get information.]

So it would be helpful to see how Holiday talked to them. I'm assuming everything I will see has to stay off record?

It does help when you're able to work within a world that's similar to your own, too. Skillsets don't need to adapt quite as much for some as for others.

Between you and me, in my case they probably got tired of reading my articles on fashion when it was obvious I didn't know anything about it and decided promoting me would be less painful.

I don't know... there is something to be said for how people love even terrible advice when they get to read it. Then they can laugh, too. People tell me they like laughing.

Well, they did get a few laughs at the idea that someone who thinks suits a size too big are presentable would be writing about Style, but after a while the shock must have worn of.

Either way I make do without being registered, so it will stay like that for now.

I know. Especially the kids. They pretty much have no option but register.

Or anyone not world familiar, as I've said before. Those taken as children here require guardianship in some sense for paperwork and legal processing purposes... it's not well thought out, but the process for getting there is in place. Registered or otherwise.

Is there a process for getting legal guardians to the kids who don't register?

Either way we should work on some system to get those unregistered the same kind of benefits registered folks get. We can't do anything about the laws short-time, but the money and such should be easy enough with a fund. And if we gather enough imPort-run business getting a job should be easier as well.

There's been a fund in process for a long time. You'd have to check with the people involved with keeping it moving forward... ask after John Mandrake, perhaps. As for imPort run businesses, there's a few of those as it is. Their stability is usually affected by what's been set up in case of sudden exPorting.

Yeah, a friend of mine decided to make a local her co-CEO, if only so that her business wouldn't just disappear if she was ever exPorted. I think if we learned how to work with the locals better people wouldn't be so reluctant to start business. But I'm hardly a business man, so this is just me making guesses.

I've pointed to what's already here. It's simpler than making you hunt it al down on your own. It's not aa problem.

I'd argue next to no one does so out of loyalty. That's not how loyalty works.

It's not off record. It's simply difficult for those who aren't given access, or don't have the computer hacking skills to bypass that access and see for themselves. In this case, I figured it might help you get some context on Holiday, and what things seemed to drive him. Reasons why his lapses in memory and the way he declined feel suspicious.

When would be a good time?

Wednesdays or Fridays in the later afternoon to early evening. Or else we can meet up sometime in the mornings, between six and seven, midweek.

Or Sundays. I just practice and handle homework on Sundays.

Friday is probably the best day to meet up since I get off work early. Does this Friday work?
