002 ♥ VIDEO ♦ Patter
[His massive castle city of cards that takes up almost his entire cell is finished, and visible. Infact, that's all you see is towers and towers of cards to the point that it's difficult to tell this is a Government Holding Cell at all. Quite the feat, one of utmost patience and concentration. Perhaps it- and the few visitations he's had are all that's keeping him from going over the edge in here. Though, that's pushing it. Were his Nen active and his aura accessible, his bloodlust would be felt all around him and over a wide distance. You can hear it in his speech, how tired and strained he is, though it's obviously he's speaking through a slim smile.]
What is your New Years resolution? [Something he's learned is quite a thing in this world, though doesn't everyone make goals for themselves? Guess people need a reason for everything they do- effort is quite difficult to come by when disinterest lingers around.]
I'd like to know what sort of things people here work for. [Like how he worked to finish this ridiculous town of cards, for example. Certainly showing a lot of effort there- or boredom.]

there's plenty wrong with it

Oh? Tell me about your world, what place has made you as you are?
no subject
you usually take this kind of interest in other peoples' trauma, or did we just make real fast friends?
no subject
I normally take this amount of interest in many things about others. And is it so wrong to be curious? What makes a man- the world around him does much, and it can give me a good idea of what else is out there.
[Really he just wants to hear about it because it will say quite a lot about this person he's speaking to. The sort of place someone comes from, if it's harsh enough, will have a definite effect on someone. A more casual world with wider freedoms would say something else. It's- asking a lot of questions by asking one.]
[Though he'd be lying to say he wouldn't probably think of more once this one's answered.]
*break, in that last tag, instead of bring orz sob, typing is hard
for a while, thomas isn't sure he really wants to expand on that part, as remembering his world is something he ends up doing despite all efforts to the contrary often enough here. but it doesn't really hurt to answer, he doesn't think.
after all, he's pretty much terminally honest and/or blunt about things. ]
paraphased version, bunch of shanks thought it'd be a good idea to take children, trap them into nightmarish experiments, then watch them get tortured and slaughtered just to see how they reacted to it.
also, something like zombies in a desert. i got a sunburn.
Haha no problem, I am no better.
[It needed to be something physical and emotional and dramatic. A fight to share between two men, to be felt.]
[Kind of defeats the purpose if one of them can just mind control the other person to punch themself in the face. While Hisoka would be quite impressed with such an ability, especially if it was honed to perfection- he wouldn't aim for a fight with them.]
[Though- there are, other things he might want to do with them.]
Ooohh sunburn. How you're still alive I just don't know.
;; oh good, that soothes my shame
but on the other side, he has no love for fighting, and is damn tired of having to prove himself. he wouldn't be interested in that kind of competition in the first place. ]
and no aloe vera. it was rough, man
No problem no problem, I still have yet to master html. What is it. I just don't know.
[Though all that aside, there seems to be a slight- fire in this person, speaking through text or not. He wants to try and fan it a little.]
Aloe vera some lotion brand here? I'm still getting used to things, I apologize. The searing sun doesn't seem anything to what else you've looked directly into though. You know, pain and suffering breeds strength.
it is a mystery
doesn't mean that he isn't edging on really pissed, though. there's a few buttons that can be pushed to get him mad really fast, and making it sound like there was anything positive in what the gladers were put through, are still being put through, is one of the biggest ones. ]
it breeds insanity too. mostly just insanity, actually.
yes
[Maybe not, maybe he would. Hard to say, no one really knows anything about this guy's past after all, besides he was from Meteor City, IF they know that. But if they did, that usually can help you form a lot of accurate assumptions about the guy. Either way, he's certainly not someone to run scared in the face of pissing a guy off.]
[Infact he'd rather go further, but he won't go over the deep end just yet. Better to be casual. He wants to come off as more- naive to the reality of Thomas's situation.]
You'll have to forgive me, when I see someone make it out of a difficult situation, my first instinct isn't to pity them.

[ he'd always thought, knowing that he'd designed the maze, probably the trails after it too, that he wouldn't have if he'd known what it was like. he's lived it now and thomas can't reconcile thinking doing this, to these kids, could be worth anything. can't imagine anyone being so inhuman.
the comment about pity seems odd to him. he hadn't been trying to make it a sob story, just telling the truth about it. there's nothing glorious in what happened. what's still happening. ]
i didn't ask for pity

[ it's not entirely true. he doesn't really want any sort of pity from it, or comfort, and doesn't even like going into details about it himself. but he'd like people to know it happened, to get some sort of validation that it was wrong, maybe. so much of the trials was so... acceptable to the people doing it. to Rat Man, giving out death sentences like he was reading off stock market shifts.
maybe so people know that people capable of that exist. people like him, too, who designed it.
but none of that is really at the forefront of his mind. ]

i'd like it if people weren't slintheads about it, yeah. that kinda seems like a given, though. i'm not trying for any reaction, if that's what you mean.
no subject
Not trying, just a preferred one. Most people tend to have an idea of what they'd prefer and prefer not to hear in response to anything they say. It usually gives you a good idea of the person you're speaking to as well.
Judging by your response though, I suppose even though you're touchy on the subject, you getting better with not letting it be too tender should it come up? You seem comfortable enough to talk about it anyway. It must have been such an experience, hm- I'm proud of your resolve.
