Show of hands, show of hands! Who around here knows who Superman is?

...I don't mean like- knows who he is, who he is, I mean knows of the superhero dude. Six foot eight, weighs a freaking ton ♫ I'm kidding, he's not six eight. He's taller.

What about Batman? Wonder Woman? Everybody knows the big three, they're like the holy trinity of punchin' dudes who deserve it. Plus I mean, Wonder Woman, am I right? I'm right. Ultimate justice in a one piece.

That depends on what they're doing, and how much need there is for something to be done. But what I'm saying is that the existence of heroes in overwhelming numbers doesn't really do much of anything to create an environment where these people feel a real threat to their operations, especially with how content the majority of those heroes are with half-measures.

That sounds like a stupid argument. Superpowers make supervillains.

But superheroes certainly aren't preventing or negating them, in my experience. That's all I'm saying.

I wouldn't blame it on registration. It's an easy scapegoat, but it remains nothing more than that. If villainy is still occurring, then registration isn't going to protect the villain once the truth outs.

Either way, this same sort of thing was still happening in the City, and we had no sort of registration there. It's an excuse for a problem with either no solution, or a very easy solution.

Well, there is the matter of legality, but it isn't as though it's a law they're enforcing.

But I don't know that we can even qualify as a resource when they aren't using us. It's been months since they made a call for assignments.

Everyone always goes on about the "potential" when it hasn't been any kind of factor over the past year. Can't we focus on the actual?

Prepare for the potential, if you must, [ SHE HAS ] but it isn't worth the attention for the most part.

Forward momentum is always the best approach. Keep moving until it's just easier not to stop.

[ that's something speedsters will get, even if she's hardly as fast of one as he is. then again, it's also something the juggernaut will get, and he's something else entirely. ]

Is that in the government housing, or in an actual rented apartment?

If the latter, I'm sorry to tell you since you don't seem to have caught on just yet, but I'm reasonably certain that will hold true for any universe you rent an apartment in.

You've never had a lease before, have you? Certainly, for an imPort it isn't...a realistic explanation, but that is the way things are done. That's why they collect the deposit at the beginning.

Okay. Stop. You're talking nonsense.

We aren't monkeys, and some of us aren't even biologically related to monkeys. Also, monkeys don't even sign leases.

It's there to protect the leaser, and it isn't even stupid. The lease is a contract, an assurance that you will to reside in the rented location for the agreed upon period of time. If you leave earlier, and without notice, the leaser is left without that source of income, hence damaging the business they rely on, the exchange the two of you have entered into.

With notice, they will be able to prepare for that vacancy, to find a new tenant and ensure the interruption in income is minimized or at least prepared for. Just flaking on them and disappearing ruins this opportunity. It's selfish and inconsiderate, and a poor business practice.

I can understand if you're worried your lease may be broken due to exPort, but throwing the whole practice out because it protects from your potential actions rather than the other way around is irresponsible and short-sighted. Try actually talking to your landlord instead to see what can be worked out to better fit our particular situation.

But if you can't be arsed to know what a lease is for, I'm tempted to think you don't have any business renting to begin with.

Did you read the lease before you signed it?

Either way, it was a bed you agreed to make for yourself. You can't blame anyone else when it comes time to lie in it.

[ ugh, americans. ]

Doesn't mean it isn't an utter waste of time to do so. Especially to the party who has to hear it.
