[Flame Princess has been debating whether or not to post something like this for most of today... and some of yesterday evening, too, honestly. It's embarrassing, but she's not getting any closer to figuring this out on her own. Mostly, that just lead to being frustrated and more than a little bit confused. Besides, it won't be that weird as long as she doesn't actually name anyone. ... Probably

does anybody know how you're supposed to know if you like someone????? But I mean LIKE like someone. Not just knowing if you like somebody as a friend that stuff is way easier to figure out.

It isn't something I've researched extensively, but...

It's commonly considered that there are three stages to successfully reaching the state of "liking someone." Lust, attachment and attraction.

During the initial stages of Lust, your body reacts to your chosen partner's individual appearance and becomes driven by various hormones to experience heightened senses of elation or nervousness around them.

Attraction causes you to idealize this person, resulting in decreased rational thinking and emotionally charged, positive responses to even the most negative of their traits. Your body produces Norepinephrine, resulting in heart palpitations and excess sweating, Dopamine, which generates increased energy, focused attention and overly positive responses to your "liked" individual, and Serotonin, which causes you to maintain a good mood.

Attachment is when the bond is formed, causing all involved members of this process to develop an instinctual desire to stay together. From there, things become...intimate. But from what you've said, I suggest we go no further. Things have yet to develop to that stage.

If you consider all of this carefully, you should be able to determine whether or not you "LIKE like" them.

[Flame Princess has since sorted everything out, but that doesn't make what Karina describes any less accurate. Especially since she still very much feels that way, she just. Has a boyfriend now.]

yeah that's definitely how it feels.

And pretty much. [Well, in a way. Her title has always been more important than her actual name, and it's not really something she's ever given out that freely. Plus, she's so used to everyone just calling her "Flame Princess" that suddenly being referred to with her first name would feel pretty strange.] it's what I've always been called anyway.
