001; Video
[The feed starts, showing Normie sitting out on the balcony of his residence. He's dressed in a beige t-shirt over a green long-sleeved shirt, and his wavy brown hair (the signature Osborn look) slightly mussed. ...Did something on his shoulder just move? Nah, just your imagination, 'cos it's not now. Normie gives a little lopsided smile to the camera.]
Hey there. [Small wave.] My name’s Norman Osborn, and uh, according to my file I'm apparently a genealogist now. Well, "Family Genealogy Researcher," but I'm pretty sure that's the same thing. I don't think anyone seeing this will really need one, but honestly I don't know too much about genealogy so I'd appreciate any help anyone can give, even if it's just pointing me in the direction of the nearest library. Oh right, I'm in Nonah, so that would be the library there.
[He leans over to turn off the feed, then suddenly stops and resumes his original position.]
Before I forget, I'm looking for the location of the nearest junkyard, or maybe a pawn or thrift store that might have some broken electronics I can take off their hands. I'm also looking to buy some welding equipment. I need them for...
[For a fraction of a second, there's a crazed smile stretched across the young Osborn's face. However, just as quickly as it comes, it's gone, replaced by the lopsided grin that had been there all along.]
...reasons.

I had no idea I'd find something like... [He looks over at May and tries to regain his composure for her sake.] How are you handling this?
no subject
[If she was at home, she'd be able to deal with it by handling it. But here she doesn't have that opportunity to even try.]
Your grandfather had all of this set up, somehow. She escaped, and his crazy goblin cult somehow [she can't think of a better word here] downloaded his mind into my dad at pretty much the same time. He tried using the other May to boost himself at the same time, calling himself Goblin God. [She manages to resist a shudder there, because that's going to probably become a new part of her occasional nightmares]
I managed to convince her that his side wasn't right, and we saved Dad, but... she's still convinced I stole her life and that she's the original.
[And that's not even getting into everything here!]

Just when I thought that man couldn't ruin your family's lives more. Listen, if there's anything I can do to make this right...
[Realization dawns on him and he jerks back with a start and looks over at her. Crap. Crap crap crap.]
Mayday, I need to tell you. My grandfather. He's alive. He's here.
no subject
[She doesn't look surprised at his reveal.]
I... I already knew, Normie. A version of my dad's here. He told me yesterday.
no subject
[Wait. Hang on. What was that last part?]
...Uncle Pete's here? And what do you mean, "a version?" Is this another alternate reality thing?
no subject
[She can't let him think that he has to carry his grandfather's sins around for the rest of his life.]
Yeah, he is. And it is. He's younger. And has both his legs. He's still Spider-Man. Apparently where he's from he never married my mom, and he's been stuck here or someplace like this for awhile...
no subject
[No, stop it, Normie. May has enough to worry about right now.]
That's... insane. Don't get me wrong, I believe you, but... this is all crazy.
[...Not helping.]
...But if there's anyone who can deal with it, it's you, kid.
no subject
Anyone who gets to know you can see you're nothing like him.
[She won't press too much, though, since she knows it's an issue.]
I know it's crazy. I hope I can deal with it.
Your grandfather, my dad... even Kaine. [It's almost an afterthought, mentioning him; she's more than a bit preoccupied on the whole issue. Clones. ]
Who else are we missing at this point?
[At this rate it's practically a Spider-Goblin reunion.]
no subject
[He smiles, but he can't say he particularly believe it. Still, he doesn't want to worry her.]
Please, there's nothing you can't handle, girl.
[His dad. Brenda. Phil.]
...Your Uncle Ben?

Real funny, Normie. Besides the fact that I don't even know how weird that would be, I'd rather have any of the Avengers or New Warriors from home any day.
no subject
Oh my god, can you imagine the Ladyhawks here? The spirited one would have beaten up half the soldiers in Florida. [He pauses and frowns when he remembers what May had told him about her earlier.] I mean... if she were well.
[Good job, Normie.]
no subject
Those two?
Well, the spirited one I don't think she needs the use of her legs to be able to take people out. Her sister isn't exactly lacking in gumption these days, either.
no subject
Hey, I'm not saying the practical one can't hold her own, but the spirited one has always been in the "punch first and ask questions later" school of superheroics. And I'm sure that would also include government officials.
no subject
[In fact, she can imagine it all too well.]
And not just them, but think about Darkdevil. [And, the thought of that dampens her a bit.] Or Kaine, for that matter.
no subject
Hey, Kaine works for the government now, I don't think he's the type to go on rampages anymore. As for Darkdevil... well, he can behave himself. Remember how he worked with the Spider-Man kid?
no subject
[She should probably break the news...]
There's another Kaine here, Normie. A different version of him, I mean.

[Hold on-]
Really?

no subject
I'm just surprised you already know.
no subject
I was surprised to see him myself. Man, he looks completely different.
[He wants to tell her about the Spider-Man thing, but he has no idea how much she knows.]
no subject
He also said he was my uncle.
[Everything's been too much, all at once.]
no subject
Really? Wow... well, at least that explains why Kaine always looked after you back home, right?
no subject
He hated my dad. My dad doesn't like him back. The first time I met him he talked about playing Rumpelstiltskin Normie. I was still green at doing the whole webs thing and he gave me a pretty good beating at the time.
[Something she hasn't told anyone, considering the timing.]
I've already spent that much time with him and he's helped me so much. Why is it that this is something I'm finding out here? I'm tired of the fact that apparently my whole life's been a lie!
no subject
Just because something happened between the two of them doesn't mean he would take it out on--he what?!
[He honestly can't even imagine Kaine doing that.
Give him a minute.
Okay, he finally gets over the shock of that information, and he's all business.]
...May, you can't blame yourself for any of this. If they kept these things a secret from you, that's on them, not you. I'm sure they had their reasons, and seeing as both your father and Kaine love you, I'm guessing they were only trying to protect you. And no, I know it's not fair, and that should have been your decision to make, but if that's true they only had your best of intentions in mind.
