Sure, anyone who's familiar with the fairy tales could. But that doesn't help too much right now.

Well, why not. [the sound of shifting.] Fantasy for fiction's fine with me, I suppose. It could be interesting.

Why should I? Sounds like a lot of trouble. But it's good to know how many shots I need to fire at a guy who's not the human-sort I'm used to putting up with regularly.

That wouldn't have been very close to grand, if I remember correctly. Even the stuff they were showing off later on wasn't too much to get excited about.

I have to admit I thought they'd have gotten further in their exploration of space.

Yeah? Based on what? The fact they're sitting pretty on a machine that reaches well beyond their own backyard of stars?

The fact their little space demo wasn't as advanced as I expected it. They have instant pills for correctional surgery, but can't get a rover on Mars?

Well, what's the use in that if Mars has nothing to offer? If things are so peachy here on Earth, who would want to leave it?

We don't know that. They might not know that.

And if anything, mankind has always been curious.

Never so curious as to give up something comfortable, on the whole. Not a whole lot of air out there for even the curious to enjoy. [his tone is like an audible shrug. a slight beat.] Change'll happen.
