[ Someone's just given her first class of the day. The white-board behind Verity is wreathed in high-school physics ("What is a Vector? A quantity that displays both magnitude (numerical size) and direction...") used to teach the kids who are now enjoying a short break in between lessons (and yelling like freight trains outside). Setting down the video so she can wipe the previous writing off, if you know her then you might notice a little effort having been put into her appearance with an actual teacher-y skirt and heels. No joggers! She showered!! Amazing.

Tucking ruffled pink hair behind an ear, she pushes her glasses back up and flashes a smile. Little awkward, but. ]

Hi, my name's Verity Willis.

If you're a student at Xavier's School for Imports, this is a quick PSA that I'll be your new student counsellor from now on — it's been rehiring, obviously, and won't be closing, or so I've been told. Should you need to talk then come and find me, you don't need an appointment! I also teach Physics and Data Programming, so if you want an intro to either of those make sure you attend class over the next few weeks. When you can't find me in the classrooms or labs, come by the offices and one of the other teachers will give my phone a call.

[ About to sign off with a smile, she remembers to flatly add, ] Oh, and if you're going to lie about why you haven't done your homework? Don't. You'll get double just like the brave soul from the Tenth Grade yesterday.

I see. Well, if you get the chance? I wouldn't mind seeing you around the faculty lounge. I've never taught anyone before, but I figured since I'm not throwing fireballs from my hands or zooming through the sky, I should do something worthwhile with what I can offer.

[ She'd be a lot more blithe about what that is if a certain big-mouth hadn't already blown it five seconds after this broadcast went up. ]

You're not alone in that, if it's any consolation. Though mine don't really lend themselves towards teaching.

My 'powers', you mean? My personal milestones are a bit, well, personal, to be honest.

Mine were a blend of the two, I was given telepathy when I came here, that's on top of lie detection. [ Sitting on her desk, she arches a brow. ] It was ... noisy.

...odd you mention that, because one of mine seems to have to deal with telepathy, too. Just...a specific sort.

I wouldn't call it 'noisy', but if something slips out that makes you want to hit me, I apologize in advance. [he pauses] And I'll allow it, since I'm still trying to get the hang of it.

Did you teach back home?

Fair enough. And I did, [key word past tense 'did'] at University level. A different spread than the kids you handle, from what I can tell, but there may be a few there who could have gone on to be in one of my classes.

I get the feeling someone like Tony Stark is going to swan into one of my classes and do a better job of teaching these kids than I am.

[ The overwhelming feeling, actually. ]

Or scare them all half to death. I don't know him very well so I can't speak for him, but just because you know something doesn't mean you can teach it.

[ Oh no, that's incredibly reassuring. THANKS, CAPTAIN DAD. ]

Then I'll keep using your approval as my base-line for success.

No, but I'm game to try. If I can help out like this then I want to at least give it a go.

It's not for everyone, but it can be rewarding. Give that try a good few months, hm?

I will ... and if I suck, nobody'll have to fire me. You'll just find a Verity-shaped hole in the wall.
