Audio, 001 [ID: Rock Light]

[Surprisingly, the first thing to notice about the audio is probably how -clear- it is. There's very little (if any) background noise, almost as if it's from someone with built-in communication. Of course, it kind of is.

The second is that is -definitely- some weird prepubescent voice.]

Haha, maybe I should have access this board... earlier. I got here, and then there was that whole big ceremony, and it just kind of slipped by me...though, to be honest, this flows more like a chatroom. Are we using some sort of ICU-variant? Do I need to ask for people's UINs?

Oh, maybe I got off to the wrong start.

Hi! I'm Rock. I'm the son of Dr. Light - well, one of them, anyway, and... well, he built me and my brother and sister and all my other brothers! I guess I'm kind of on my own right now, though. Which leads me to my first question.

How many people have experience with robots and robotics? I mean, it's okay if you don't. I was just wondering. Knowing someone to come to for the occasional repair might be handy, given my reputation back home.

Anyway! I might not necessarily have wanted to be here, but if anyone needs my help, I'll do my best!

I've heard a little about you from Tempo already. She said that Megaman existed in her own universe, and you identify yourself as Rock Light, and Dr Light's son. Since she shows familiarity with you, and in my own world Dr Light had biological children and not robotic ones...I assume that's your identity. Or other identity, perhaps?

Of course, I could be wrong, but I believe I have enough data to take it from a guess to a deduction on this front.

You're right, though. I go by Mega Man, sometimes. Not when I have a choice to, though.

Not necessarily concealed but... Rock's my name first and foremost. It's what I'd like people to know me as.

That is fair. I've only ever had the one name, but I understand that you would like to make a distinction.

Hopefully your restraints don't hamper you too much. It's not pleasant. [ He's never known programming restraints, but he does know what it's like to not be able to choose or control what happens to you. ]

I should probably tell you I'm a criminal and my morals aren't very impressive, before you go around wanting to be friends with me. Full disclosure. But I suppose like attracts like; there aren't many forms of artificial life here.

As for my programming... Dr. Light didn't want me to be responsible for harming any humans. Not that I would, but... well, reprogramming isn't exactly uncommon, where I come from.

I always wonder what happens if humans try to harm robots who are restrained by those laws, but I suppose we shouldn't speak of those things.

I'm fully capable of hacking systems and I hypnotised a whole city into thinking they were animals once. It was fun. Yours is a heavy burden. Taking it on of your own will is impressive.

That's why I still go by Rock. That's what he called me first. Mega Man is an official designation, as well. But then I don't match with my sister.

Some things really do stay the same across universes...You always want to see the good in people, don't you? You're correct in that they're not righteous or moral actions - they were actions I wanted to perform. Choices I made for myself. And that's all.

When you and the Megaman I know meet - he's here in this world, too - I wonder how similar you'll be, side by side? And how different.

AIs like myself are very widespread in society, in the world I come from. We're intended to grow, at least mentally, with the aid of human partners - so we start off with malleable personalities, what would be termed innocence. Most people have an AI - a netnavi, really - with them from a young age.

Yes. You seem very similar already, so I suppose some things don't change. But he usually goes by Mega Man. I think he does have another name, but that's probably something just his operator calls him, or his operator's family - it's a personal thing.

I'm happy with my operator - that would be my human partner, yes. So it's not something I ever placed significant importance on...the relationship is simply different. For robots who take such a long time to construct and create - and are possibly the work of one or two people at a time...The path of construction isn't the same.

I'm not lonely at home. I have my teammates, as well as my operator, so I'm far from lacking company. [ Here? He still feels the ache. But that's fine. He meets interesting enough people, here. ]

Well, he was scared of me, to be honest. Diverging timelines. But we get along a little better now.

That's correct. We stay with one operator, mostly. Some navis will leave their operators if they feel they're being mistreated - they have that choice. We all do. But for the most part, we stay with one partner.

Considering how dangerous things are, here...I would rather he be back home, even if that means we're separated. If he's not here, that means he's safe from harm, and that's all I want.

No, he's experienced several things that I have not...and vice versa. Apparently the other version of me that he experienced was less than pleasant. I can only apologise and try to make up for what was done.

Have you acquainted yourself with the major cities here yet? It's useful to get an idea of what you're in for as you travel. I don't believe you're allowed to cross borders uninhibited or use the Porter without restriction unless you register, though.
