[Clears his throat. Time to get this out of the way]
So, it appears that the Porter thought I needed a little vacation. I'll be getting back to work in a day or two, but first, does anyone mind filling me in on current events? Just in case the news missed any details over our latest misadventures.
Oh, and one more thing. [His voice turns cold, as irritation infects his calm, professional tone] While I appreciate that my apartment was kept clean during my absence, there seem to be a few items missing. If someone could help me to retrieve them, I'd be most grateful.

And that makes this more enjoyable. Time to wear the mask of the good doctor, again.]
Welcome back, Miles.

[Awkward indeed. Edgeworth coughs into his fist and straightens himself up, grateful that Crane can't see his face]
Good evening, Doctor. I trust that you're doing well?
[And his tone is cool politeness once more. You would have never guessed that he nearly had a heart attack when he heard Crane's voice.]

[After you flounced out your session. Do you remember that?
His voice is calm and level, but there's a slight awkwardness. That's an emotion that illicits guilt, right?]
What of you? How are you faring?

Approximately three weeks, according to the calendar. [It certainly doesn't feel like three weeks, though] Why do you ask?

Anyway. The government made an announcement about asking registered imPorts to help track down vigilantes. The dead rose...You were here for the epidemic, right? The Flare?

So, nothing out of the ordinary. [She hopes he can hear the humor in her tone- though she's still frustrated about trusting Melkor.]

[Where Sabriel sounded amused, Edgeworth sounds bitter. There's a pause, before he continues]
...though I must admit, the slime's new to me.
[He read up on the other two events, however briefly, but the blob attack slipped his notice]

But absurd things happening and the government not understanding the supernatural... I can't say it's strange at this point.

[And there's just a subtle hint of amusement in Edgeworth's voice. Are you feeling uncomfortable with lost time and cross dimensional shenanigans? Cover it up with dry humor and false bravado! That's the ticket]
