[ Nakamori Aoko is feeling a very complex mix of emotions. She’s just been told about her powers and that she has to live here now. She hadn’t really been able to get in a word edgewise as she ushered here and there in that weird building and then just dropped her off at this weird house. It’s left her one part scared, one part confused, one part excited (because superpowers!), but mostly it just left her angry. And now she has words. ]

Aoko doesn’t care if you did give her superpowers to make up for it, Stealing is stealing and kidnapping is kidnapping. It doesn’t matter if you’re government or not because it’s still illegal to take people from their homes. [ She’s pretty sure she was at home, she’s not really sure but that doesn’t make her any less angry. ]

The law is there for everyone to follow and no one is above it, it’s disgraceful your government thinks it can just pick and choose which ones it wants to follow. Aoko has family where you took her from! They’re going to be very upset and you’ll be very sorry.

[ She glares darkly at the device before continuing on, she’s not lecturing the people that brought her here yet. ]

And you can’t just drop people off at weird buildings with strangers and expect everything to be okay! They seem nice-and Aoko doesn’t have anything against them but you probably didn’t warn them either and that’s just rude.

If you brought Aoko here to help you should have just asked! Jeez! She Probably would have said yes. But you’ll never know, because you didn’t! [ And with an irritated huff, she cuts the feed ]

[Don't mind him, he's just checking today's feed. Considering all the crazy stuff that's happened around here, he's got people he's keeping an eye out for.

So he scrolls through, humming to himself, before he stops.

So startled is he, he accidentally flips the switch to video instead of the voice feature he's so prone to using. Mostly so that Conan couldn't put a face to his name, but whatever.

So there's this familiar face popping up, his eyes wide and hair spiky as usual.]

[ His is exactly the face she wanted to see, there might even be some tears at the edges of her eyes because yeah, she was scared and now that Kaito is there she feels like she doesn't have to put on that much of a brave face. ]

Kaito, where are you? Aoko wants to meet up with you.

I'm in Maurtia Falls. Where did they leave you?

[He's already making plans on going to see her, wherever she's at. At least he doesn't have a show tonight, Aoko is more important of course and he would always cancel to see her, but he hates leaving his fans disappointed.]

All right, let me call work and tell them that I won't be in to do my show for a couple of days and then I'll head down there.

Kaito is really that far away? If it's really like that, Aoko can come to Kaito. [ Maybe. As soon as she figures out how. ]

It's in Pennsylvania, so it'll take me at least a few hours to get down to Florida.

[He shakes his head.]

I've been here for a few months, Aoko, I know how to get around. I wouldn't want you to go out and get into trouble.

[ Hours? Not that Aoko is super familiar with the layout of all the states in America but that means they probably won't be going to school together. That's upsetting. ]

What do you mean a few months? I couldn't have been that long. Aoko saw you at school yesterday.

Really really messed up, Aoko.

[He frowns, trying to figure out how to explain things to her.]

I'm serious. Things might be calm now, but I've seen some scary stuff go down. Heropa, where you're at, was pretty badly damaged recently. And then there was this sickness going around... it wasn't pretty Aoko. Some of my friends were affected.

[Like Heiji. Because KID still hasn't forgiven him for that.]

[ She had been starting to feel better. Now she doesn't. ]

...And they put Kaito really far from Aoko?

[Sorry, Aoko, Kaito's told you a lot of lies lately, but he's not going to lie about this. Not if it keeps you safe.]

They did, yeah. And I wouldn't want you to come up here, Aoko. It's dangerous, lots of crime and stuff like that. Hakuba would probably like it though, it would keep him busy.

[And keep him from accusing Kaito of being KID every five seconds.]

Kaito! Daddy is a police officer, you think I don't know about high crime rates.

I know he is, Ahoko. But the cops around here aren't like your dad or the rest of the taskforce, none of them seem to care.

[Which, if he was honest, did bother Kaito. Internationally wanted Phantom Thief he might be, he did respect Nakamori and the others, even if he didn't always show it. Nakamori was like an uncle to him, after all and he practically grew up in the man's house.

He sighs, running a hand through his hair in frustration.]

I know you don't. I don't want that either.

[Because he can't protect her if she's far away. It might be harder for him in the long run with KID, but... damn it.]

We'll figure something out, Aoko.

H-how could they not care!? They're supposed to protect innocent people right? That's why they became cops, right?

[ Is there anyone she can report that to? Maybe an internal affairs division? ]

You'd think that, but cops are like everyone else, most are good, but some are bad. I just think this places has more bad then good.

[He gives her a smile.]

[ That's really upsetting. How could anyone have let this happen. ]

Then... Aoko will just have to join the force herself!

[He just stops.

And stares, trying to muffle his laughter. Not that he's laughing at her, not really. He's not even surprised, to be honest.

Aoko wouldn't be an inspector yet... probably just a cadet.

But I could see you being an inspector someday, Aoko, if you really wanted to be. Mop and all, every criminal in Ekoda would fear you.
