Hello everyone! This is Chrollo, although I expect you could tell from the ID field.

As per a request by Ira Gamagori, imPort Ambassador to Nonah, I'm planning to start a database keeping track of the various abilities here and who has them. The point is to make it easier for people in a bad situation to look up and contact whomever might be able to help them. So, for example, if you come across an injured civilian, it would be easy to look up healers who might be in the area and contact them. Or if, say, you come across a fallen wire, maybe there happens to be someone in the area who's immune to electricity and can move it to a safer position.

We also thought it'd be helpful for the recently completed training facility, and so (as mentioned by the Ambassador) I've volunteered to assist by matching potential students with the trainer of their dreams! Or as close as I can manage, anyway, depending on who signs up.

That said, this is strictly voluntary. Neither I nor the ambassador is looking to make anyone uncomfortable or make them feel watched, especially with the new regulations that have been announced of late. So feel free to flip by if you're not interested.

If, however, you are interested, either in having your abilities recorded or as someone who might reference the database, I'm wondering what you'd find most useful to include. Ability, name (or codename) and location seem obvious, but is there anything else I'm missing? I'm trying to be thorough, I guess, without being invasive, so please share your thoughts if you have any.

When I'm ready to roll forward with this, I'll be setting up a text-based inbox on my communicator for forms, suggestions, requests and training inquiries. But in the meantime, if you have any suggestions, questions or comments now, I'm more than happy to hear them and talk to you about them.

That's so cynical, honestly. I'd like to think most of the people here are trustworthy and wouldn't take advantage of the kindness and good-intentions of others.

Still, you're probably right. That's sort of where I'm coming from on this, too - I'd rather not ask for anything people are uncomfortable with.

Of course, I'm right. With the amount of people the Porter brings in, and there's no doubt that at least some people will see this and try to use it with a more malevolent intent.

But perhaps you could simply ask people to include what they think others should know about them, but doesn't fall under any of the previous categories.

In a strange land, surrounded by strangers...knowing who to turn to can save time as well as save lives. Probably, had you or the imPort Ambassador of Nonah not come forward yourselves with this proposition, someone else would have. I think the idea is, personally, rather inspired.

There is, however, a downside to making public knowledge the powers of others...and I speak from personal experience. Strategically speaking, revealing what you are capable of can be fatal; it provides enemies with an opportunity to think of ways to counter the abilities the database will list on file. Thus, this database will be a double-edged sword.

Probably...there will be times when it fails to help people—or worse, when it is the catalyst for the calamities that will befall them. Are you prepared for that? Is the Ambassador?

[Ahh, this is the King Arthur sort that he'd heard about. A rather stoic young lady, actually, and he's immediately intrigued by the question of her - he isn't from Earth, so her legend isn't half so embedded in his culture as it is in this world's, but he's read the stories and he can be absolutely certain that King Arthur was meant to be some bearded man.

I would say that anyone who worries about something like that probably wouldn't volunteer... or perhaps they'd hold back some of their information? It would be understandable, but at the same time, it's a bit sad to think that we can't trust one another.

...I'm a little surprised that you'd volunteer, though, considering! That's not to say I'm not pleased. For the record, if any trouble happens to arise from that risk, I'm sure many people would be more than happy to come to your assistance - myself included.

You would say that, but I would say that it is contingent upon the nature of the volunteer, wouldn't you agree? What their intentions are, and the strength of their will or whatever it is that happens to drive them to help others. How far they are willing to go...

You speak of trust, speak of being saddened by a lack of it...but I believes that trust is something earned. Courtesy is given, but trust...that must be carefully doled out.

In any case, my volunteering should not come as a surprise. We do not know one another. Not yet, at least.

am i the only one who thinks this would be a huge safety/security issue, i ask rhetorically because somebody else already said it. besides, if its voluntary then whats stopping people from lying and saying theyre some hugely powerful healer and then whoops they kill the people you send to them? i get where your heart is at, dude, but this is a Bad Idea.

I don't really see how it would be any more of a security issue than the way people openly discuss and describe their abilities when someone randomly asks about it on the Network. Or the way they use them in crisis situations. Someone could easily stand back during the next zombie dragon attack and take notes on what everyone is doing rather than helping out.

I won't claim it's impossible that we'd ever have people with ill-intent, of course. But that's the case in any grouping. If we let that dictate our decisions, we're just living in fear and limiting ourselves. And in the end, if someone is interested in randomly killing others, they won't need a list to do it.

And, of course if you're uncomfortable, there's no reason you need to pay any attention to it at all.

you used like eighty words to tell me to chill but okay. i think i get your point. im just worried that this is going to make things easier for people in some really good ways and some really bad ways. but like, its your idea and im just not going to participate in it, thats cool, whatever. its not like i have any powers worth documenting anyway.

the more important part is that youre telling me there was actually a zombie dragon attack. i saw the damage myself but i was pretty sure people were just being hyperbolic. this place is weird.
