Case File 006; Text; Mirronet

The secretary of defense, Lacey Chases, has been a person of interest ever since her announcement she made a month ago regarding legislation. However, while I've seen much speculation about her and the government's intentions towards imPorts, I've seen every little information about the woman herself. With that in mind, I've decided to take matters into my own hands and do a little digging. Here's what I've found so far.

>She was born June 1st, 1970, in Montana, the second out of three daughters. Her parents were patriotic and pro-military, and instilled in her a strong sense of nationalism and an interest in protecting her nation.

>In order to further her goals, she attended West Point Academy from 1989-1991, graduating at the top of her class. In 1992, she took part in Operation Provide Comfort, a military initiative to defend Kurdish refugees and provide them humanitarian aide in the wake of the Gulf War. After her tour and a brief stay at home, she was then stationed at Haiti from 1984-1985. She worked in military intelligence during her tours in the Middle East and Haiti.

>She was eventually promoted to the rank of colonel, and by 2002, she was working under the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics. A few years afterward, she was working as the Deputy Secretary of Defense. In January of 2013, she was nominated as Secretary of Defense, and approved by the United States Senate in a vote of 90-8.

>L. Chases also happens to be a very private woman. She doesn't share details about her personal life easily, and there's no sign of a spouse or children. "Married to the job" is how some people would describe her.

>Most importantly, she has been a supporter of imPorts for some time now. While she hasn't stated her opinions explicitly, she has shown strong support for pro-imPort legislation that has been passed over the past year, and has a strong interest in building a better working relationship between imPorts and the American people. In other words, this woman is not our enemy, and can be a powerful ally. It would be in our best interests to learn as much about her as we can, before we write her off completely.

Did you happen to get the name of her sisters?

Also, saying she has our best interests at heart is a little disingenuous when all evidence points to the contrary. Unless you're hoping to suggest that someone beneath her has put us through rigorous tests and helped pass regulations to have us attack one another.

(For the record, I don't think that's what's at play. She might just have a different definition of what it means to be "pro-imPort.")

Three fates, Edgeworth. Though we've confirmed that Chases is at least absolutely human.

And I think there are many points to be made about the Secretary of Defense's treatment toward imPorts. But that is one such example, yes.

No one in this government is ever just named "Frank" or "Bob," huh.

[Where are the six Hanks and twelve Peters that seem to be inevitably in every other part of her world?]

But despite Chases' name, neither of her sisters fit the scheme. I mean, they fit a shame, but not the scheme that seems to be in every aspect of this world as long as you tilt your head to the right angle. (Sometimes, they need a little head tilting.)

It fits the theory that this world is a new one, but it could be another red herring. I'd share your theory with Clark Kent.

Yeah, unfortunately, it might still be a bit of a stretch.

Then again, sometimes things are a little too literary.

Would you be able to share your sources on all this information?

Not to undermine your work, this is just a reporter's habit.

I'd appreciate that, thank you. I also appreciate the work you've put to gather all of this, it's really impressive. I hope she's as pro-imports as that makes it sound, because we really do need her help.

[ooc: Clark just wants to make sure it looks legit so he wouldn't extensively review every single little detail, we can handwave Edgeworth shared the sources, Clark gave them a quick look and that was that?]

That tells us a lot already, actually. If she really is supportive but can't be open about it we should figure out why. Is she not allowed? Is she keeping to herself for some other reason?

Exactly. But at least this gives us a couple clues on where to look.

So really, thanks for sharing this.
