With the understanding that this is a network of some type, I'm looking to get into contact with a Mr. Qubit. He assisted myself and my colleague on arrival, and circumstances at the time weren't conducive to exchanging contact information.

In addition, if there's any available information on technical or research institutions located around the occupied cities, any direction would be appreciated.

Finally, if any other members of the PPDC exist here, I'd request them to get in contact immediately.

Thank you.

Could. You don't know how long some of these people have been here.

You could just write an algorithm. Come on. Don't be LAZY.

I started trying to put together a list on the Mirror.net although no one really wants to contribute to it D:

That's a start.
And yeah, a database is kind of useless if not maintained.

Well while there isn't much information alongside the directory, the network does have a list of all the IDs of imPorts!!

Dude, that is the best job and you know it. Not that I think human relationships can boil down to numbers, because *I* don't think people work that way (we are not atoms colliding in the night, ok?), but I think YOU think that way, and that's why this is so perfect.

I'm still saying: think about how juicy and complicated this is. If we wanna go with your 'everything is numbers' philosophy, people are compound equations unto themselves. But THEN you're trying to figure out which one of these long lists of code and ideas and personality quirks and opinions (etc etc) stands the best chance of relating to another long list of code and ideas (etc)--it's going to be messy and YOU KNOW you like to clean up messy equations and streamline and fill up your board.

*I* know.

This is probability (and maybe a dozen other fields) at it's deepest and most intricate, man. This is as close to visceral as your math gets. This isn't horse races and Kaiju appearances--those are straight up math. This is a real challenge for you and if you don't step up to the plate, dude, you're missing your chance to contribute yet again to humanity.

Consider the alternate applications for this: I'm sure there are some, but just think what knowing--PREDICTING--what two variables will do when acting upon each other? What the reaction would be!! This goes so much farther than just some shitty eHarmony thing. This could be revolutionary, the next evolution of Game Theory. Like-- predicting Drift Partners from a questionnaire, without them ever setting foot into a kwoon combat or ever even MEETING. You could narrow the field to less than a dozen, if not find THE ONE and thereby save the Marshal hours of culling the applicants and testing them against each other.

That's it, basically. Think of this as Drift Matching, not dating. You're matching people who will be SOMETHING to each other and they can figure out what the hell that something is. Your algorithm has to predict a positive outcome and then just have to get them to notice each other in the first place to set your predictive models into action.

I am not. I'm intrigued, nothing more. Scientific curiosity.

1. So? There's a need for one. Think of the lonely hearts, Herms.
2. Yeah, sure you did.
3. Drift tech will continue whether we have Jaegers or not. AND anyway, the Breach will open again. There's no shame in having the science ready for that when it happens.

Ok, so side project. Even you need a hobby. Do this part-time for the lulz and the extra cash while you, I don't know...write programming for some small time tech firm. Yes, I said it. Some crappy tech job is the best the brightest mathematical mind in the world is going to get. Honestly, I think this ridiculous matchmaking job is the coolest thing you can find to apply yourself to and stretch your brain-cells that THIS GOVERNMENT will let you do. They're not Pentecost or the PPDC.

I mean, they have me studying Herpetology.

I'm not complaining, it's cool and useful, and I really like the idea of looking at lizards and frogs all day, but it's a big step down from Kaiju. I'm being underused, dude. At least one of us has to do something rockstarish.

Ok, maybe they'll want us to do something awesome eventually, but then it's going to be something THEY want us to do, on THEIR terms. When shit really starts to go down.

I don't really want to teach. Did that, don't really need to do that again. Don't really think you should do that either, to be honest. Think of the students. I wouldn't mind lecturing, but aside from general curiosity, I don't know how much interest there would be in Kaiju or pons information--well, pons maybe--since they've never actually experienced Kaiju and Jaegers fist hand.

YOU'D rather work for them directly.
[ there, said it. ]

You fuck off.

You say that like I was going to. Geez. I CAN keep my mouth shut, ok.

But they trust us enough to try to employ some of us as Heroes to help win their war. I don't know, Herms. I really don't know. I get trying to protect the integrity of the porter, but they have FILES on us. I think they know what we--and people like Qubit--are capable of. Why won't they let us try?

No shit, sherlock.

We're their best weapons. Not us specifically, although we are pretty useful, but can you imagine the kinds of powers that have been pulled in here? Neither of us are well suited to combat, but that lady asked you if you were a soldier. You know they've gotten some Beckets and god help us some Chucks and some legit superheroes and not everyone here is Qubit and Hiro and us.

Of course they want to keep us. Or they want the soldiers and cannon fodder, at least, and to keep us scientists in our nerd corners where we can't mess anything up.

Which we could do. We're good enough. But yeah, assuming Qubit continues to be the upstanding guy he's been so far, I'll take the help and the knowledge. Hiro's too. Maybe there's someone else at the Stark place to help, too. Put our heads together. Think with portals.

In any case, you know I'm game for it.
