Audio; Locked to JL and associates
[ Bruce's voice is rough and abrupt. A clipped audio punctuated by screens is attached to a prepared text that includes Batman's map position on the De Chima University campus. ]
It's happening.
[ And now the text: ]
We knew Crane was preparing to make some kind of move. If you aren't already on the ground, come prepared for fear gas.
The situation is serious; bring in anyone who can help. It's up to the Justice League to clean up his mess, but leave Crane himself to me. It's me he'll be expecting.
[ OOC: Just assume that this reaches you if you're known to Bruce as being DCUers on the side of justice, or already actively brought in on the JL etc. If in doubt, pm me. Clark, where are you when he needs you? ]

text - ID reads Kid Flash
getting as many as i can out
gas can still affect speedsters flash impulse take note
text;
The Batwing is tracking the spread of the gas. I'll have it send regular updates of areas which are still safe to clear.
text;
will check in if situation changes kf out
text;
text;
[But considering that beating fear is literally in his job description he might be an anomaly.]
text;
[ That's all he'll say to that. ]
If you've shaken it off, see what you can do about the ceremonies hall.
One more thing. Superman isn't responding to my hails. Any idea why?
text;
[One of these days he's going to get so riled up he'll punch Bruce. It takes him a while to continue, he's technically still affected by the gas and that's just flipping his fight instincts.]
getting one of the flashes to get the gas out would be a better idea but I can separate people in the mean time.
I didn't see him there does he have another deadline?
[Even as he's texting he knows that's unlikely. They don't have the time to look into this now with all the chaos, but troubling all the same.]
text;
[ And who among them doesn't have a permanent world news ticker going round in one ear the whole time? Of course he has...no idea how a Flash could move air, that's insane. Maybe if he had more experience with abilities, but even now he hasn't been exposed to them often enough to think about problem solving in that direction. ]
It may not be Gotham, but Crane is still my responsibility. It was my choice not to alert the police about his threat when I arrived here. I indulged him, and I have to stop him, otherwise what kind of protector am I?
I failed these people.
[ He'd only ever say that if he was under the effects of the gas, in his own way. ]
text;
you screwed up big deal. we've all screwed up and sometimes people get hurt because of it but we get back up and do better. do better and accept our damn help.
text;
I don't have time for this, Jordan.
text;
I'm going to kill you after this.

audio | id reads "power girl" of course!
There's an impatient edge to her tone when she speaks: ]
What do you mean "we knew"? Who knew?
audio
You haven't been watching his escapades on the network recently?
audio
I was kind of away for a while!
I've seen him being frickin' creepy, but him being a total creep all over the network doesn't necessarily spell out this level of attack!
audio
[ There's a monstrous noise on his end suddenly, like an enormous extractor fan kicking off, before the mic corrects for the sound. ]
He went AWOL two weeks ago; suspended psychiatric practice and disappeared. I've spent the last two months trying to locate his laboratory and coming up short.
audio
Was everyone given a heads up? If you were worried that he would do something, why didn't you say anything?
And please tell me the police have been notified.
audio
He's killed police officers before. Even if they were prepared to deal with Scarecrow, I don't trust them with that information. Or RISE.
[ He trusts no one with this issue, and more importantly than that, this version of Bruce more than any other is committed to working alone. Sharing information like Crane's identity with the police? He can't see a good reason. Just to throw more victims into his path? They won't catch him--there's no doubt in his mind about that. If Crane gets caught, he'll be caught by whomsoever he wants to catch him, at a time of his choosing. ]
audio
We need inform them. They need to be able to put their people out on the lookout for him. It's their city.
[ She doesn't feel comfortable with RISE either and as much as she wants to trust other imPorts, she'll easily put the police before a group like RISE until she knows they won't do something drastic. ]
audio
What would Superman do?
[ Clark is missing, and somehow he feels like he should have a say in this. But what would Superman do? Probably exactly what Karen is suggesting--that's the point he's making. It's really a rhetorical question. ] Should a representative of the League declare who he is? Tell them? Is that our responsibility here?
audio
What's right.
Our responsibility should have been telling the police prior to this, even if we didn't have proof! We might have been able to do something, Batman! This doesn't have to be complicated; if the police were never going to believe us, the rest of us could have been on standby during the Swear-In.
If you're not going to tell the police-- [ Sirens blare louder. A window is smashed as Peej breaks through one to enter the campus. ] I will. Maybe they'll believe me, maybe they won't. A show of good faith isn't going to hurt anyone. It might stop Scarecrow sooner than later.
And I can't argue this anymore. I need to help people.
[ She disconnects immediately. ]
( ooc: jsyk! i have asked lisa if it's alright for the de chima police to be informed and she said yes. however, since peej doesn't have proof they won't necessarily believe her and the suspect pool will remain empty! )

Bruce has known for weeks that there will be consequences for his choice, but he had been challenged by Crane, threatened, and protecting his own identity wasn't all that had come into it. His identity, if it failed, meant destroying the secret identity not only of himself but his colleagues, his family, and anyone who would come to this world from Gotham in the future.
If he'd just been able to stop Crane before this...
Well, he hadn't, and now they had to clear up the mess, and Bruce would have to bear that guilt, the weight of the lives lost. He wouldn't shirk that responsibility. ]
