Gunpowder.
[ Good afternoon, imPorts. Your screens are suddenly filled with the face of a very grumpy, very beardy looking Musketeer who doesn't seem to want to specify why he's just saying words. Unintentionally dramatic is just Athos' way when he's unhappy. It's been a very long and trying couple of weeks and he's losing patience with being anything else, it's burrowed in the lines of his down turned mouth and his frown. And he knows his statement could sound like a threat ( let's be real, if Lucifer is watching then it's definitely a threat ) so as suddenly as he announced it he decides to specify. ]
And shot. Musket balls too. I need to purchase some. I've done my best to visit all the gunsmiths in various cities but to no avail. [ Quickly, as if he's heard this a thousand times before. ] I know weaponry has changed greatly. I do not care. I cannot be lead to believe that these things are not in production any more. This is why I have come to this. [ Talking. To strangers. On the network. ] I have the weapons already. If any of you know of any proper supplier I would be very much grateful for it. I will trade for it.
[ He's not begging. He's too good for that. ]

You might be able to special-order it off the internet.
voice
But still --. ] I beg your pardon, mademoiselle, but the what?
voice
Right, okay. ]
Erm - the network. The broader network. Maybe you've used your communicator to look up webpages? Or do searches for information? Or perhaps that hasn't been of interest to you yet.
[ There. Diplomatic enough. She hopes. ]

voice - kitty is now destined to be athos' google. he calls her all the time like can you find this?
voice - she'll just get hired on as tech services for the renfaire farm
voice - he'll pay you ... in wine because his money is for guns.
voice - keep the wine, the only payment she needs is watching musketeers get up on their horses
voice - he can deliver that.
voice - oh and also some farm-fresh butter please
voice - better ask d'artagnan ok. athos doesn't understand farm work.
voice - mici and i can't stop laughing about 'oh i don't like servants, i only had 20'
voice - that's rude he totally fired them all it's ok
voice - oh no that totally makes it ok
voice - /rents d'artagnan out
voice - suddenly the richest man in heropa
voice - /buys all the guns
voice - um maybe wine would be better
voice - he can make his own. he'll opt for brandy then.

video;
I know of an antiques store that might be able to help you out with some of that. Might be a limited supply though.
video;
As long as they do not mind me attempting to buy their entire stock, I don't think it will be a problem.

You could google it. That's what I always do when I don't know something.
[ This is the extent of her technological know-how. That and attaching pictures of dogs she meets to texts. Very useful. ]

I've been told. Unfortunately I wasn't aware that was an actual thing I could use.

He stares, stares -
Nothing. ]
This isn't working.
[ He brings his hand down hard on the table, and immediately, a dagger appears and falls into the place he'd been staring at. D'Artagnan throws his hands up. ]
Oh, perfect. I'm sure we'll be able to shoot that.
[ He glances up, aware of but not really listening to the voices coming over Athos' device. ]
Go easy on Kitty. It was the gas, she meant nothing that she did.
action
There must be more to your power than frustration and anger. Stop worrying so much about it.
[ He tests the weight of it, tossing it in one hand and catching it once more. Laying it down with another couple, Athos reaches for his glass. ] I can hardly blame her for what she did that night, can I? [ He'd not been himself either. ]

I can understand being partial to a particular gun, but why stick with a musket?

I prefer it. Do you not stick to what you prefer?

[This sounds very revolutionary war-esque. Maybe she should have paid more attention during field trips!]

Perhaps. I would like it to be working though. If it's for show it probably hasn't been cleaned inside for a long time.

I just don't think we have enough threads
You see why I think we should all just use arrows? They are so simple to find and simpler still to make.
[She has that tone of voice that says she's teasing.]
you are unstoppable.
Unfortunately my lady I do not have that particular skill.

[ and attached to this post are like four links: two of them are to historical reenactment websites, one of them is to a book about the history of gunpowder (that Owen's not entirely sure if it has directions or not but hey, might as well) and the last link is to the Heropa courthouse, where there's an article about how to get a gun permit. ]

...have you thought about upgrading? I mean guns improved because of how often muskets misfire. Now they're much more accurate and can shoot a lot farther, plus they aren't nearly as likely to blow up in your hand or not fire at all when you really need them to.
( voice )

Have you thought of looking in a pawn shop? They often sell much older items.
The prices are usually quite expensive, however.
video;
I've tried a fair few. Most have laughed me out of the establishment. [ He's threatened to stab most of them. That probably doesn't help. ]
