3rd Illusion ♥ Video; ID reads Kaito Kuroba

[The video opens to Kaito still on a chair in the middle of a stage, shuffling cards in his hands, his fingers flying as he absentmindedly moves the cards back and forth. He's dressed in a black suit and top hat, looking every part of the dashing gentleman magician.]

This is an open invitation to all imports. I'm Kaito Kuroba, the magician in residence at the casino in Maurtia Falls. I'm planning a special Christmas show for the season and you're all invited! I couldn't get the stadium so I can't do the trick with the elephant, which really stinks, because it was going to be awesome, but that doesn't mean that I don't have anything else special and outrageous planned.

[Because this is Kaito.]

Oh, I am!

Awesome! Let me know when you're around Maurtia Falls and I'll bring you to the casino.

I can come pretty much any time, really. Except during working hours...

That'll be perfect. We can do maybe Sunday maybe? My show that day is usually in the afternoon so I'll be free that night and the theater will be empty.

I can do that! Riza ought to be back by then...

My housemate, since Ed left. She needed a better place to stay than where she was.

And I think she wanted to keep an eye on me and make sure I didn't do anything stupid over Ed going away.

[Understandable. Kaito didn't have anyone to do that for him, but he had turned himself to annoying Hattori and Edogawa more as a way to cope with Aoko's leaving and more so with Hattori after Conan disappeared as well.

Now that everyone is gone, well... he's drowned himself in his performances and info gathering in the event on of the detectives should return.

Because that was always a chance right?

That's the belief that Kaito allowed to live in the back of his mind, hidden by his ever present Poker Face.]

Do you think you would have?

[There's no hesitation.]

No. [Said with a smile, bittersweet but still there.]

Ed's been in and out all of my life. For four years, I didn't know for sure if he was sick or dead or alive or anything - I had to believe he was alive, because the military would've contacted Granny to tell us anything different. And I know things are - will be - okay back home.

That doesn't mean I don't miss him. I do - but I've missed him before.

[The faintest of shrugs.]

I'm okay.

It's good to have that - the hope. It gives you something to hold on to.

[That's something that he'll never have, and he knows it. His Dad is dead and never coming back, even finding Pandora and taking down the Organization won't change that at all.

And as for someone waiting for him - he supposes, in a way, that Aoko would be like Winry. She's waiting, even if she doesn't know she is. It's something that Kaito feels horrible for it but he can't stop it, not now.]

Good. I'm glad for that.

What about you and Aoko?

[Because let's not dilly dally, shall we?]

Will you ever tell her how you feel about her?

She already knows she's my best friend.

[Look at that, Winry, typical male behavior - denial.]

[A sigh. Boys.]

What?

[Kaito is sooo confused right now.]

You like her, dummy.

Well, yeah, I mean she is my best friend and all.

[He's not denying it, though. But he can't entertain those thoughts, not while KID is still in the picture. Not while he's still chasing the ghost of his father, too busy with the past to live in the future.]

[A long pause while Winry studies you through the camera, Kaito. Finally, she shrugs. You can lead a horse to water, yadda yadda yadda...]

When do you need me again?

[If there was anyone that he felt he could trust, Winry, it would be you, but he can't tell you why he has to play the dumb boy card right now when it comes to Aoko.]

Whenever you want. My schedule's pretty open right now, between work and my shows.

I'll stop by after work one day this week, then? I'll call you before I come, to make sure it's a good time, all right?

Oh, man, imagine if I could fit one? This place would be awesome!

I wonder if we had enough pets if we could get moved into a bigger place. We could get lots more. A tree for a buncha monkeys. Maybe a big pool for some dolphins. A castle for a dragon.

Maybe we should just pool our money and buy a zoo. That would be pretty awesome and we'd have so much room.

We have Maou. We already need a bigger castle for him.

I guess there's always Disney World, but I don't think I have enough money for that.

I've never been. Not sure I'd wanna, either. Too many kids.

I haven't either, actually. I've been to Tropical Land, though, which is sort of the same thing.

You mean Florida? [ Because derp America is effing huge. ]

No, it's in Japan. Well, my Japan, anyway.

Huh. I've never been to any kinda theme park. So owning a zoo would be cooler for me than most others, I think.

We'll have to go then! We'll just have to find a time when there's not a lot of kids running around.

Aren't there always a lot of kids running around?

We could try later at night. By then, most kids would either be too tired to make much noise and run around or their parents took them home to sleep.

Kay. That could be fun.
