Hello, everyone! [Euphie seems to be sitting in her apartment's living room; she's constructed a fire in the fireplace which flickers in the back, and she's wearing a very warm sweater.] I hope you're all doing very well.

This season certainly is festive, isn't it? There's so much cheer in the air... where I'm from, we don't have anything like this at all, so it's all new and a little exciting to me! I'm not certain I have the whole mythos correct-- I'm not quite sure what the pine trees are meant to represent-- but it really does seem like a lovely type of year.

Is there anyone else who's also experiencing this for the first time? Please, I'd love to hear what your own winter celebrations are like!

[She pauses.] But, ah... it does seem like everywhere is playing the same music, over and over again. Is that part of the tradition too?

Oh yeah... it's really that time of year, hunh...

[Adachi lets out the most long suffering, painful sigh ever imaginable.]

Well, it's not that great of a holiday if you don't have someone to spend it with. Just have a nice little tree with some cheap ornaments on it and endure the endlessly cheerful music everywhere you go, and you pretty much have the whole thing down. It's really a big fuss over nothing.

You don't like it? But everything's so cheerful. I haven't anyone to spend it with, but I'm enjoying myself.

Eh... it's not really that big of a deal where I'm from. Mostly it's just an excuse for people to buy stuff. And I've never really had anyone to buy stuff for, so it just kind of passes me by every year.

There's a festival around the same time of year, I believe, but I don't know much about it. I've only celebrated it once.

The tree represents eternal life. [ Though he's not especially attached to that, it was just what he'd been told. ]

It does? What an interesting symbol. Aren't most of them, er... cut down already? [So they're going to die.]

It's a profoundly old holiday. I think we can make allowances for slight... shall we say 'deviations' along the way?

The trees were actually part of another holiday that got mixed in with the Christmas traditions when the religion was spreading. The types of trees that get decorated are the ones that stay green throughout the winter, so it represents life and fertility and all that classic stuff people tend to celebrate.

Oh! I see, that's so interesting! ...and what are the peppermint canes?

Peppermint is tasty! Why not make an excuse to eat it, right?

Also, it tastes really good in hot chocolate, you know? And that's a perfect Christmas drink.

Is it the holiday and festivity you are unfamiliar with, or is it the season of winter in its entirety?

Oh, just this holiday! Where I'm from, the religion that gives it its trappings doesn't exist. But we enjoy the wintertime all the same!

...or we would, but my home is located in what this world calls Arizona. It doesn't get very wintry there.

It's not the first time I've celebrated Christmas or anything, but I've never seen a city so... decorated.

I guess it wasn't as big a deal back home. [To the point she and Phoenix often forgot about it.] It's pretty nice, though, right?

It is! I love all the lights and the trees-- it's really marvelous!

So you mean that it existed back home, you just didn't celebrate it much?
