[Eric appears on the screen, seeming to be sitting in a dimly lit office, glasses on his face. He'd sat there all day really, at his job, doing pretty much nothing. It was laughable, that they'd put him in a position such as this- Eric was a man who liked to be busy, hell he practically needed to be busy.]

Hello fellow imPorts. My name is Dr. Eric Dufosset, as some of you may already know. It seems that there is no end to introductions in this place, with how people come and go seemingly endlessly. [He smiles, but it doesn't quite reach his eyes, he's just trying to be pleasant.]

I come to you all after another day wasted at my job. So I thought about maybe being a little more vocal about these things. My official title, as dictated to me by those who brought us here is Dream Interpretor. [There's movement to the side as he raises a cup of coffee and takes a sip, clearing his throat before talking again.] But here I am without dreams to interpret.

So, my fellows, would anyone care to tell me a dream? [There's a smile that basically admits he knows no-one will be interested.] Alternatively, there are many other things I can interpret if you'd like to visit my office. I have tarot cards, tea that can be brewed, palms to be read... Just give me something, please. I'm weary of the inertia.

[She can't help but chuckle at that. Again, there's a point of commonality she wouldn't expect. Maria wonders whether all imPorts have such dreams.]

I doubt I'll ever be a fan of magic, but I suppose there's something worthwhile in that—taking what you've learned from both vocations and making something more of it.

[He smiles broadly at the laugh, see he was also relatively normal too!]

Not many people are it seems, regardless of what plane I find myself in. But yet, magic was my birthright... It seemed natural to add what I learned from it to what I actually desired and create something more from it.

That's commendable. I've known far too many men inclined to embrace only what they already have, rather than striving to create something more. That's the choice of a fool.

[incantamentum]

[He grins.] I know a few fools then... its quite a trend among magic practitioner circles to simply carve one's life out as a magic practitioner. It is, of course, the easy way out.

[givetheslip]

Convenient and comfortable. [She nods.] But they're still likely to pay a price, even if they don't recognize it.

[incantamentum]

Of course, there are prices with everything... Magic sometimes dictates a much higher price than one might assume.

You don't seem to have suffered paying it.

[incantamentum]

Ah but I suffer every time. [Even if his sufferings weren't that difficult.] Certain magics require a certain price each and every time.

[givetheslip]

Such as?

[incantamentum]

Such as curses. And wards. Both require either a personal sacrifice or a physical conduit. [He says it very matter of factly.]

[givetheslip]

I see. You sound very casual about it.

[incantamentum]

Well, because I know what it takes to make certain acts of magic come true. Sacrificing something for them, its what needs to be done.

[givetheslip]

Knowing sacrifices must be made doesn't lessen the seriousness of doing so.

[incantamentum]

Perhaps not, but if you've been in this life as long as I have then these sacrifices seem more commonplace than anything. The same way you make a decision whether or not to eat breakfast in the morning.

I don't see much to compare between the two, but as I've the magical capabilities of a rock, I'll take your word for it.

[incantamentum]

[He chuckles loudly at that metaphor.] I happen to know some wonderfully enchanted rocks.

[givetheslip]

But I assume they're the target of enchantment, not the cause. So that comparison holds true.

[incantamentum]

True, of course. There are also inherently magical rocks and crystals. But still, I understand where the sentiment comes from.

[givetheslip]

At least there is something we both understand.

[incantamentum]

[He smiles.] In places such as these we should probably be thankful for the small understandings.
