Can everyone hear me? This is Max Caulfield. I'm not sure this is working, but I'm gonna try it.

[A pause that's punctuated by a deep, shaky breath, and Max continues.]

We've been kidnapped. I'm sure you've already noticed by now, but I figured I'd start with that anyway. [As it turns out, Max is every bit as awkward as she usually is, if not more so.] We're not hurt... at least, not as far as I can tell. We can't use our powers. They've told us we're "property of the USSR." [Her tone more than denotes how much she thinks of that little detail, but she moves on.] But we're okay... I think. We're not injured, as far as I can tell.

They've told us we're in space, but... I don't know. A lot of us don't think that's right, but hell if I know where we are. They could be telling the truth, but they could also just be trying to scare us.

Look... I know this is a lot to deal with, but please don't do anything crazy. We're fine.

[At least for now.]

[ as for other things... ] The best thing you can do in this situation is pay attention to everything. The air, the walls, what the people coming in and out look like, any noises you hear...you might have a moment when you're paying attention and you recognize something.

Well I'm seeing a bunker, lots of oxygen tanks, metal plating...this obviously wasn't a room designed for you lot, I think you're basically in the equivalent of a closet.

Really? Maybe asshole Russian prisons are like this.

Or maybe wherever you are didn't get the jail cells finished in time.

I wouldn't really know. I've never been in a jail cell before.

[She has been imprisoned, but not like this.]

I have. It tends to happen when you're trying to stop aliens hell-bent on destroying the world. So I can say with great experience, that's a terrible jail cell.

Is us being in a terrible jail cell good, or bad?

I'd say good, because it means that they didn't think this through entirely.

Either that, or they just don't care how they treat us.

You're prisoners! Of course they care how they treat you. What use is a dead prisoner?

They only seem to care enough to keep us alive.

[But for what? Surely not just as hostages.]

Which again, is good. That means they want you for something. The question now is, for what?

[At the very least, they're hostages.]
