[ Max is in his Museum of Folklore uniform, the red cap on his head clashing something awful with the khaki shirt, but he's long since resigned himself to the clash and so should you. Behind him is part of the display on the Epic of Gilgamesh, and he's got a bottled water in his free hand as he talks, grinning into the camera. ]

So guys, you all know I work at the Museum of Folklore, right? I had an idea I wanna run by my bosses if I can get enough info on it. Like, a display on heroes from ImPort worlds. Or even a whole exhibit, if I can get eno_ugh —

[ Max stops mid-sentence, looking a little mortified at the sudden crack in his voice. He pauses to take a drink of water and collects himself quickly, clearing his throat before he speaks again. ]

Enough... enough stuff.

Do you guys have any old legends where you come from? You know, the kind of stories that get passed down through the generations about heroes and gods and the like? I'm looking specifically for stuff that might be unique to your world, but anything is great. You can tell me about them over the network or we can meet at the museum.

With everything going on, I think it's... really important to remember where we came from, you know? And this would be a great way to learn abo_ut — a-about each other, too.

[ He looked like he might have said more, but his cheeks turn pink at that second crack in his voice. He takes another sip of water and cuts the video there. ]

Riku wasn't really going to reply to this. The grounds on which they last spoke makes it feel very awkward to him. But he's curious.]

[ Oh, it's... it's Riku. Max might look a little sheepish when he answers, averting his gaze from him. ]

Well, yeah. The world's a big place. Different countries all over the world came up with different stories as their societies grew, you know?

[Riku catches that. He's not going to say anything about it in the wide open like this, though, because he can imagine how shitty it must feel to have been one of the cursed. Instead he nods.]

Yeah, I guess. You'll have to excuse me on that though, because a world this big is new for me.

[ Well, Riku's not tearing him a new one. That's a good sign. ]

...What kind of world did you come from?

I know a couple of good Gallifreyan ones, both designed for scaring children. Time Lords aren't big on cuddly. [ he dramatically clears his throat before repeating, ] 'Zagreus sits inside your head, Zagreus lives among the dead, Zagreus sees you in your bed, And eats you when you're sleeping. Zagreus at the end of days, Zagreus lies all other ways, Zagreus comes when time's a maze, And all of history is weeping.'

[ casual nonchalant grin! ] It goes on for about five more stanzas but you get the gist. Ready for the next one?

There's a lot've folklore where I come from, though they're all just people in the end. Does that count?

Sure, they're all people in some way or another. Even the legends not based on people in history have some kinda human aspect to them, you know?
