 [Conan had spent the two months since his arrival in Maurtia Falls determined to avoid posting anything on the network. Without knowing everyone who might be seeing it, he had decided it was just too risky to have his face and name out there for anyone to see. Not without knowing whether one of them was here.

It had taken seven-year-old Shinichi Kudo less than ten minutes to figure out exactly how to operate the communicator. And more importantly, how to make the video function work.

The kid frowns into the video. Anyone who had ever met Conan would have no trouble recognizing him. Apart from the missing glasses, he looked exactly the same.]

Oi, I've had enough of this joke. Can I go home now?

[He taps at the camera suspiciously.]

Mom?  Dad? Is this another one of your pranks?

How do you know?

[Shinichi didn't recognize this guy at all. ]

'Cause I've been here for almost three months. I'd know, kid.

[eastdetective]

How is that proof of anything?

[leonized]

What part of it do you think is a joke? That you have powers now? That you're in America or whatever?

[eastdetective]

All of it. But the part about being in America is more believable.

[leonized]

Uh huh.

[It was kind of the opposite for him... although he had known of a place called America before he arrived.]

You seem really skeptical for a kid.

[eastdetective]

I'm going to be a detective. Skepticism is good for detectives.

[leonized]

You're sure about that already?

[Color him slightly impressed. He sure didn't know what he was doing when he was that young.]

— Anyways, do you need proof?

[eastdetective]

Of course! I don't want to just write mysteries like Dad does. I want to be a detective like Holmes.

Do you have any?

[leonized]

Depends what you want proof of.

[eastdetective]

Any of it.

[This was the face of a kid who wasn't expecting anything useful to come of this. ]

[leonized]

Well I had powers before, does that count? I can show you one of mine.

[eastdetective]

Go ahead.

[He wasn't expecting much. ]

[This is going to take a bit of focus because he's never actually tried to glamor anything but his ears before... thankfully he's wearing a hat and he doesn't have to have that conversation.

So he sort of squints, and to Conan, it looks like his nose is changing shape so that it's more hooked. It only lasts for about 10 seconds, though, before it abruptly changes back to its normal form.]

[There is so much skepticism coming from Shinichi right now. ]

Was that supposed to mean something?

[leonized]

What, you see people changing their face shape all the time?

[eastdetective]

Mom studied with a magician who is some kind of expert with illusions and disguises. She practices on me all the time.

[leonized]

[... ...]

Then I don't have any proof for you.

[Because his other power would just come off as him faking it. Or being really good with animals.]

[eastdetective]

You give up really easily, you know that?

[leonized]

[He snorts.]

Or you're really stubborn.

[eastdetective]

Dad says that's a good quality for a detective.

[leonized]

Yeah, but I don't have another good way to prove that the powers are real.

[eastdetective]

Then I'll just keep assuming they're all fake.

[leonized]

They definitely aren't, though. Just saying.
