Hello, De Chima. I've recently been ImPorted to your beautiful city, and I'm looking for an equally beautiful guide to introduce me to my new home. Would any of you ladies out there care to oblige me?

I also thought I would introduce myself for those of you who aren't sure whether or not to help me: My name is Ivan Vorpatril, and I am your galactic dream come true. Respond to me on this channel, and I can happily repay you with a night that is truly out of this world.

[ Then congratulations, Ivan, you aren't about to be disappointed (unless he was expecting someone under 30, that is). Hawke's not exactly putting an effort into dressing up, but she looks perfectly fine in her usual preferred red tank-top and jeans. Casual, which is her preference for most things.

Such as casually lounging seated at the table she's taken over on the outdoor -- and well-lit -- patio of the place, where she's picked a good spot to keep an eye out for Ivan. She's really the only woman sitting out there on her own, so he's free to take a wild guess which restaurant patron she is. ]

[Ivan isn't entirely sure who to expect tonight. No matter. Hawke sounds like an intriguing woman, and what fun is romance without a little surprise?

He spots her right away, a fierce but beautiful (and older, thank everything) woman in a red tank top. Ivan's going to have to get used to women showing bare arms in public.

He strides over to the outdoor table, grinning.]

[ Someone's certainly sure of themselves, but she isn't about to lie. ]

Well, congratulations. You got it right on the first try, Serah Galactic.

[Ivan chuckles, relieved. Yes, he would have been embarrassed had this not been her, but he finds that confidence is a good way to start all interactions with women.

She picked a good place to eat, too. He likes the atmosphere, and it's even out of doors, which is strange in the best of ways.]

I had hoped so. You're as striking in person as you were on the comms.

[ And since he's made it over here, she'll gesture for him to grab a seat at the table. ]

Oh really? I was only a voice on the comms. I'm not sure I'd count that as very striking.

You have a very distinctive voice. You're intelligent and rather articulate.

Can you blame me for being curious?

I suppose I can't, but it's always so strange when people here claim sounding Fereldan comes off as intelligent and articulate.

[ But then again, Thedas is full of jerks. ]

What's it like there?

Well, yes. It's where I grew up.

It's... forests, mountains. Previously a lot of farmland. Lots of dogs, too. Lots of them. Not that I'd ever complain about dogs, mind, since I do love them. Some cities along the coasts, but otherwise it was very rural and most of those parts were wiped out during the Blight.

Yeah? I grew up at my cousin's family house outside of Vorbarr Sultana. We used to play in the caves around there. It sounds similar.

What was the Blight, though>

[Anything like Cetagandan nuclear bombs?]

Well, the Blight would be the things we were told live in the caves, so you can imagine playing in caves wasn't quite on our own to-do lists.

[ Kind... of... ]

You see a Blight ever few centuries or so. There are creatures, quite horrible, that form up an army and invade the surface. They're poison. Just being around them, it kills the land, people, anything that isn't Darkspawn, like they are.

I can imagine that.

Those sound awful. Being here must be a bit of a relief, then. I hope.

Oh, no, that was years ago. We fled across the sea to get away from that.

Now I'm fleeing just about everything else, though, so yes, I can't say it isn't some relief. [ But enough about her! ] What about you? What do you think of De Chima so far?

So it couldn't follow? That's not so bad, I guess.

I like it here. Things have been much more quiet than they were on Cetaganda, if with fewer parties.

I suppose Darkspawn aren't sure how boats work.

[ In any case, it had worked. Mostly. ]

And you'll want Maurtia Falls if you want parties, I think. Lots of, ah, interesting people. I'm not sure it'll match up to, what was that? Cetaganda? Where's that?

But they knew enough about other things to make life miserable?

Oh, Cetaganda is where I was stationed previously. The people there are very into art. Their Haut--their leaders--think the best kind of art is genetic code. They do crazy things to people in order to become superhuman. The more average ones--the Ghem--aren't allowed to practice on people, so they use plants and animals and such. It's really weird.

With all the burning and pillaging and unstoppable disease spreading doesn't really require a high level of intelligence, but-- [ Wait, hold on, his explanation of Centaganda garners a curious look. ] Crazy things? Like what?

[ Ah, but the waiter is dropping back by the table now and Hawke will pauses long enough to turn her attention that way, to get in a drink order. As it turns out, she's a beer kind of lady. ]
