[Here is Billy Kaplan. Here is Billy Kaplan in what looks like a small bookstore, which he pans. Quickly there is Richard Campbell Gansey the Third, thumbing through a book and looking very dapper, but the camera pans away from him after a moment. Basically, here is Billy Kaplan again.]

In a move that I hope does not go down in "poorly and hastily planned decisions" I'm opening a shop in De Chima. It's um, Enchantments, Rare Books, and Tea Room-

[No tea is actually being served. They don't have a license for tea. Or food of any kind.]

-and it's a magic shop of the consulting and advising kind, not the selling magical items kind. Though the books, we'll sell those. Well. I'll sell those. I don't actually have a staff.

But the point is, drop in, come by, take a look.

[ Dorian just sighs an exceedingly overdramatic sigh, like he's somehow being put out by not teasing Billy about that. ]

I'll tease you about your hair then. That and the fact that you most likely have no idea what you're doing.

It's starting to look a teensy bit like you don't take care of yourself.

It's the depression.

[ And...Dorian can't help but wince a little at that. Cause yeah, he's been through that depression period as well (though his lasted ten years, whoops.) ]

Have you tried drinking yourself into oblivion or mindless flings yet? Those cropped up a lot during my blue period.

[ as did dying in various fun ways but...we're just not gonna mention that... ]

No, just lying on the floor creating galaxies in my ceiling.

[Billy's depression is both pathetic and showy.]

I'm going to have to set you up on a date, aren't I.

Teddy, I know. [ How was it not to miss the fact that the two of them were in love? ] I also know that he's not here.

[There's another silence, and this one is a bit more uncomfortable.]

Isn't that cheating?

[brushoff]

I can't answer that, [ Dorian admits, with a small little frown. Because he really can't. He thought Toby was dead for the longest time. Popped back home for a few years to find that Toby's come back to life, less than a month later Toby shows up here. He didn't have any time to digest the fact that he was potentially cheating on Toby before the vampire reentered hsi life again. ]

What I can answer is that I doubt Teddy wanted you to be like this, no matter the circumstances, [ said with an idle gesture towards Billy's everything. ] You don't have to go out and fuck a stranger at the drop of a pin. But you can at least entertain the possibility of talking to someone.

[God, who thought that Dorian Gray, of all people, would have both relevant and relatively good advice about this particular topic?]

But he's straight so that's not even a possibility.

[He rubs his face.]

Dorian can't help but wrinkle his nose at Billy's confession. Ew, straight people. But as for the question... ]

[ or, just bother Mabel Pines until she matchmakes Billy with someone. ]

[He sighs, tilts his head on his hand.]

Yeah, it sucks.

Anyway.

[He goes into the very small book section and comes out with an 1869 copy of a Wordsworth, and sets it in front of Dorian. Being an imPort got him into the rare book gig easier than he thought possible.]

Oh you wonderful man, [ Dorian can't help but murmur, absolutely enrapt by the Wordsworth. Gingerly, he picks it up, flipping through the book's pages,

Toby's going to love this. Of course, Dorian's not going to mention that it's a gift for Toby because they just had the Billy Kaplan is single and sad talk. Also hey, now that Dorian's holding a book and isn't keeping his hands in his lap, it's pretty obvious to see that he's got an engagement ring on. ]

Of course I'm interested! How much?

[Billy quotes a price; it's a good deal but it's also clearly not a friends price. It's fair for what the book is worth, basically.

Billy does not raise an eyebrow. He witnessed the engagement from afar, recall? But he makes a mental note of it, because well.

It's working out, that's nice.]

That includes the magical tea.

[brushoff]

[ And Dorian accepts that price. He can pay it, it's a fair price, and really, he's got a feeling Billy's going to need the money. This guy...yeeeeeah. Magic is an entirely different beast from running a shop. ]

I assume you take checks? [ There's a small pause, and then, ] By the way, I used to work as a banker if you need any help with anything fiscal. Granted, it was back in 2007, but I'm sure I still remember a thing or two.

[ It was back in 2007 and Dorian was also kind of a cokehead back in 2007 so he's doubly uncertain about his banking prowess...buuuuut Billy doesn't need to know that. ]

Check is fine.

[He waves a hand, takes the book back to wrap it carefully in tissue, and goes to find the certificate of authenticity that came with it in his files.]

Kitty's handling some of that but if you could help I'd be grateful.

[He hands a bag over - one of those sturdy paper bags with a fancy wire handle, embossed with the store logo. Handmade, but handmade well.]

[brushoff]

[ Dorian reaches into his pants pocket and pulls out his wallet. He'd put a blank check in there before leaving—it's a little bent, but good enough to use. Stealing a pen from somewhere, he makes out the check while Billy goes to find the certificate. ]

I've got a feeling that even though my knowledge is out of date, I'd be a bit more help fiscally stating than Kitty Jones.

[ Dorian knows that Kitty "socialism for the masses!!!" Jones works at the garage, but he's not sure how she's managed to keep it running. When Billy returns, he takes the bag, handing him the check. ]
