That kind of thinking doesn't seem fair to the vampires that are left. Harping on the past can't change anything, but they're still here, and they're still looking to you for guidance.

Not anymore. Their problem was a proximity to this life to begin with. The best thing I can do for them is to put distance between them and us.

I've given up on the me who thought she had any business trying to do something for them. I've reached the limit of my usefulness in their lives.

But it's more than that. It isn't only that I'm not capable of protecting them in any way, but the imPort community has had so many vile reactions to them, the only way they can be safe is to get them out. They've only had one of us who gave a shit, while the rest were either apathetic, or openly antagonistic.

It's clearly evident that I can't win the fight against that. Not before it's claimed the rest.
