Have you ever had those days when you've had to empty out your savings to relocate friends whose lives are in active danger?

[ She finally looks at the camera directly, as Ashiah can be seen bumbling across the wall behind her. ] I think it's time to admit I need a new weapon. The Porter recently took the one I've relied upon for years, and this [ She brings her hand up, holding a large knife. ] has proven a feeble replacement. I'd prefer something with more weight and reach, something that can actually deal damage. Motorized, if possible.

So, I'm open to suggestions. If you craft any yourself, sell me on your product. I'm willing to learn something new, but no firearms. They don't agree with my style.

I suppose it can't be helped. What do trolls do to celebrate?

Not a terrible lot. Karkat used to use the occasion to lament on his insufficiencies, because he's Karkat.

For me, I suppose my wriggling day hasn't been important enough to celebrate. I simply observe the date as a means of continuing what I can of my culture.

Anniversaries, birthdays, holidays -- these dates make culture. [ though Julian might mean that a little more literally than most people would. ] It would be good to do something for it.

I think, it's more that culture makes them. These dates are not the foundations, they are markers, reminders. The holidays exist for us to reflect on that culture, and remember where we came from.

I don't know if I have a way to really do that without making it a very private affair.

The culture creates them. Then the dates feed back into it. The dates grow into something more than they once were.

Well, yes. I'm the only one to whom that culture is relevant anymore. The date, on its own, means nothing. Only to me does it have any further significance.
