 So,  I guess a few things recently have gotten me wondering about something.  Just curious, you know?  

[Actually he was a lot more than just curious. But he was trying to be just a little sneaky about this. You know, get the information without admitting to being part-ghost himself.]

How many of you have met ghosts back home? And what were they like?

Um, also one more thing. Anyone know how long you can completely fail at a job before you get fired?  Because I am seriously terrible at mine.

I haven't met any ghosts, as far as I know. I don't know if I want to meet one, unless it's one of those friendly ones that doesn't want to make you into a ghost like they are...

[His voice gets more unsure as he goes, eventually trailing off into silence.]

Uh, sorry? What? Why the heck would a ghost want to make more ghosts?

Because they're lonely? Or they pretend to be lonely so you'll feel sorry for them and then they try to kill you. Or get you to follow them into danger.

I mean, I dunno if that stuff is true, but that's what I've heard.

[Danny grins nervously as he tries to remember anything he'd ever heard about what a medium did. All he comes up with is vague memories of a few bad horror movies. ]

You know, I don't think I've ever met a medium before? Do you talk to ghosts or something?

All the time! You might say that ghosts are the ones who talk to me, but it would be rather rude not to say anything back, of course.

Well it's like how my friend Wendy never does any work at all around the Mystery Shack where she works, but she never gets fired 'cause she does just enough to make it more of a pain to find someone to replace her. Plus she's really really cool which makes up for a lot. [It really doesn't, but productivity numbers have no place in friendship.]

Because they just went and took over my body! And then another time one turned everybody into trees? Rude!

[The cat sure didn't looks like any animal ghost Danny had ever met before. For one thing, it wasn't green. But he was getting used to the idea that ghosts here weren't exactly like the ones he had known back home. ]
