Is there someone who knows enough FUTURE SCIENCE STUFF or whatever who can explain that this is completely true and therefore FIRE IS STRONGER THAN AIR???
As far as I'm aware, there's a grain of truth to it---though bear in mind that biology has never been my focus, and I may be several years out of date.
Oxygen is necessary for life, but when the body uses oxygen to process nutrients, it leaves behind highly reactive molecules called free radicals. We require antioxidants to counter free radicals, for oxidation causes damage to our cells---it's why breathing pure oxygen tends to trigger hallucination and other ill effects. The process is broadly similar to rusting metal or the browning of an exposed apple.
...and I wouldn't say that fire is stronger than air as much as I'd say oxygen is a component of fire.
[There's a moment where a blonde haired kid looks about to respond.
That moment will never come as some frizzy haired wild child tackles this good looking, clean cut young man and steals the comm from him. HE STANDS, POINTING DOWN AT THE SCREEN.]
I RESPECT THAT YOU ARE ANCIENT AND PROBABLY A MASTER OF 32 MARTIAL ARTS AND MAYBE KNOW SOME SHIT.
SO It's a COMPONENT. Like, if there's no air, there's no fire. THAT'S SCIENCE, CONFIRM IT!
Its all true in the future we have used hard sciences to make the air more acceptable to humans. We lost a few thousand insect species but humans thrive stronger than ever before
It has elements of truth to it. It's more accurate to say that oxidation reactions are responsible both for most essential life processes and for combustion. But yes, molecular oxygen is toxic at high enough concentrations.
That said, this is actually you and your friend arguing about whose power is better, isn't it? And as powers, both have their merits.
It's definitely about which is better but the science is necessary. Of course they both have merits!!! that's why they're powers. But one of them has to be a BETTER power.

[He's listening in on the answer to Ikki, too.]
Is it because the air in the future is super oxygen rich or something?
