[The screen of their communicators flickers to life with a fluorescent glow. Initially, there's only a hint of someone there-- thick red fabric, chain mail, a hammer.]

I had prayed to come to good tidings. Greet friends, and assuage fears. To bolster thy strength with mine own.

Instead, I come here haunted by past misgivings I thought requited, by a name all too familiar to me. If you know him as well, I would like to speak to him.

[It doesn't sound like a request. The image swings up high to a broad faced man with long blonde hair. A winged helmet. His eyebrows are drawn down across a brow rigid as though it were carved from stone.]

You think I come to this decision easily? That I have not sought another way in the past?

You speak as though you are certain that you know this man -- your friend.

But you have not seen him nor spoken to him in person since your arrival here, correct?

Aye... thus that I mean to speak to him now. I pray that I am mistaken, but to have those familiar to me speak otherwise does not bode well for his absolution.

It is difficult for those that know him best, as a comrade and a friend, to see things with clear eyes. I hope that separated as you are, you are able to see things for what they truly are.

I understand that others are more predisposed to punishment than myself, but please bear one thing in mind: violence, especially here, will solve nothing. For us, death is impermanent. Though even if it were not, we would be bound by duty to stay your hand.
