So. This has been a long couple of days. [The look on his face screams 'I am just so done' so much that he doesn't even have to say it explicitly] Any recommendations for a good bar around Nonah? I got a lot of sorrows to drown and not enough booze to keep me going.

Okay, tell me, people can get into this thing pretty easily right? I mean it's as defenceless as any other smart phone. No protection, nothing to keep people looking in on it.

If you mean to keep things beyond conversations private, there are encryptions and passwords to use which is your standard fare on devices such as these. I cannot say how secure they ultimately are, but I take extreme caution in saving certain data. Personally, I have acquired a burner phone and use codes I know how to decipher. But, it has been brought to my attention I am a little too paranoid.

Nah, you can never be too paranoid, I'm right there with you. Burners don't seem like a bad idea. I was already debating that one. These things are pretty cool, don't get me wrong. Gadgets like this? They're pretty handy but they're given to you. Just like that. Nah, man, nah. That's a trap.

I'm of the same mind. The government tends to bend their own rules when it suits them. I don't like that.

There is little harm in playing by their rules where they can see.

I don't have much faith in any government, I think anyone who does is a little cracked. I'm just going to keep my guard up, be smart.

When I arrived, I was in a different place and assumed registration was the right thing to do. There are advantages; travel is easier, gaining legal employment is easier, getting what you want is easier. Everything is easier, including the government being able to keep tabs on you. It is also easier to carouse within the system if you are registered, should you care for that sort of challenge. There are plenty of imPorts who will gladly assist those who choose not to. Currently, it is a matter of personal choice.

See, that's what I don't like. The keeping tabs part. It makes life easier but they get something out of it, don't they? So does it actually make life easier or are they going to make it harder in the long run?

I don't know how much I'm up for that sort of challenge but it's not a bad idea. I'm just unsure what I want to do. I might have a look in at the registration, see what people say. I don't make a habit of trusting the government.

[There's a small pause.] Are you still registered?

That's the question. Registered or not, they still know we're here. Will it make a difference? I don't know yet, but I'm trying to find out. More drastic measures may have to be taken, but there is little point in not being prepared. Currently, yes, I am registered. My partner and I wished to establish a place of... business. [ Locus has the feeling this man isn't stupid and can infer it's not a humble establishment. ] That is easier to do while registered. Now, however, I am weighing my options.

[There's a slight pause as he considers this for a moment, debating how he wants this to go.]

I feel like you and I should keep in touch somehow, you feel me? Cause we got the same kinds of doubt and suspicion. And I like having contacts. People who get what I'm thinking. People who can give me a heads up when I'm getting in the shit. Cause most people here? They seem kinda clueless. [He shrugs a little.] Come get a drink with me some time. When I know a little more. I'll even buy the first round.

[ There's nothing wrong with more contacts. Locus likes them and he doesn't have too many here. Because he doesn't trust many people here. ( Because he thinks like 80% of them are idiots. He's not real sorry about that... ) ]
