Those of you from an alternate Earth, what similarities or differences have you noticed between this world and yours? Specifically, I'm looking to pinpoint where a great deal of our common ground lies, and if there's a trend where most timelines appear to diverge. Discussion encouraged.
As well, if there are any research institutions with room for a theoretical physicist and biologist interested in solving the mysteries of this world, please do get in touch.

we're not aliens!!

Not in the traditional sense, perhaps. But it sounds like the cetra are migratory? And don't call any particular planet home- unless they've settled and lost their powers as you mentioned. The concept of 'aliens' having had influence on the world in ancient times has always been a popular one.

earthizing this or something! i never said any of that!
even i don't know where the cetra came from. the planet itself may have created us the way it created the weapons.

It's not meant to offend.
ALIEN-
a foreigner, especially one who is not a naturalized citizen of the country where they are living.
In this case, planet. It's just an observation, and I'm working in theories at the moment.
Definitions aside, your planet's divergent points is in the far-flung past evidently. Interesting.

whether you mean it to be or not, it's still offensive

Could you start from the beginning?

gaia has the lifestream, which is where we all go when we die, so, in a way, it's alive and sentient. it communicated with the cetra and we can hear and talk back. we used its power to make the ground fertile for plants and animals and when one place was done, we move onto another part of the world. it was a hard life. the cetra didn't have a HOME, we just had a single temple. they had a nomadic culture in servitude to the planet itself. some didn't like it and settled down and once they gave up their life as a cetra, they became humans.
the cetra died out a while after that when an entity called jenova appeared from the sky. we couldn't stop her, so we sealed her away in ice. until modern humans drilled her out anyway.

So your Gaia shares its place in the solar system- the same one, you're sure? But rather than the planet developing through tectonic movements and such, it was the hand of the cetra giving life to it through the lifestream?

i can't be completely sure, though, but the moon seems to be in the right place and i recognize all of the other planet names like mars and jupiter and stuff. maybe my moon is a little closer?
the continents are way off too. we don't have antarctica or the south pole or anything like that.
