Tetsuo's gone.

[It's the hardest thing Kaneda's ever been able to admit, and a large part of him didn't even want to make this broadcast. Something about how this was his business, or how it meant admitting defeat in his search for his best friend and family. His voice lacks the confidence it usually has, the undertone almost a soft squeak, as if he's trying to hold back tears.

That may explain why this is audio.]

[There's an audible inhale and exhale, gloves covering his mouth as he thinks some things over.] So...I'll be taking over Neo Tokyo til I can kick his ass for ditching me with it. You know how to find me.

[ ...wow, Kaneda sounded like shit. Adachi was actually a little concerned. Just a little. It's not like he would be worried or anything. ]

[The answer gets a small chuckle out of him--a more somber one than he's used to. You're right on the money, Adachi, he truly does sound like shit...and the worst part is, he knows it.]

[ At least he heard him laugh a little, even if it wasn't his usual. It was something? ]

[Anything is progress, honestly. Even now, he's miles above what he was this morning, when the messages from his comm kept bouncing back with 'no sender'.]

[ He'll explain later. Adachi needed to make a quick stop to a certain store he liked, and when he did arrive at Kaneda's place, he greeted his open door by raising one of the two six packs of beer he grabbed. ]

[That's a story Adachi's definitely going to have to go into, because a.) cute idol girls always seemed like they'd have magical girl powers over navigation (Although they always DID seem to find the bad guy on the first try--questions to ask Maya), and b.) was it only reserved for ones with annoying voices?

So many questions, and ones he'll ponder as he starts cleaning up his side of the garage. Not that he needed it to look nice--he wasn't trying to impress Adachi or anything, but he can't work as he is right now. It just wouldn't be right.]

[Even that seemed painful to say now, when it's something that felt so natural to say to the person usually across the room.]

[ Oh boy, this was an emergency. Adachi stared for a moment, before he set the six packs down, taking one out and opening it up right away, handing it over to Kaneda without a word. ]

[You know, he can't say he doesn't appreciate the lack of questions. Talking about it before he was ready just opened up old wounds he wasn't ready to stop the bleeding of.

First it has to make sense to him before he can let someone else understand it. And silence...and company were two key components of that.]

[ Adachi grabbed a beer for himself, popping off the top. He was lucky enough to find a place that actually had some imported beer. His luck was usually shitty, but to find the same beer that him and Dojima used to enjoy here in America? That was stupidly lucky. ]

It's pretty warm there all the time. Not having to worry about the snow is nice, although the summer was worse than Japan ever got.

Ah yeah, that's where Maya lives. She likes it warm all the time there--I think I'd die if I ever had to live there full time.

[Hell, summers in Nonah were about to kill him, what with him being a constant furnace.]

Neo Tokyo summers sucked now that I think about it. All that pavement, there was nowhere for the heat to escape.

Hard to imagine the big city built up even more than it is now.

[ He tapped the lip of the bottle against his mouth thoughtfully, before taking a swig from it. ]

Hell, from what you've said about it, I don't think I'd survive in that kind of place very long.

The old city was completely wiped. Nothing left of it.

And the ground's pretty much useless by then, yeah? So they just...built it in the bay. [Tokyo bay to be exact. It was the only place that they could, after all.]

And since it was all manmade, sometimes all you could do was go up. If you didn't know how to get by, you just...didn't.

[ Adachi paused, staring for a long moment before an uncomfortable look came to his face. It sounded like the way the world was now, only even more grossly exaggerated than his mind was willing to picture. He let out a breath after a moment, shaking his head. ]

So I guess going back isn't on your priority list.

[Kaneda's smile is bitter sweet, as his hand glides horizontally in a soft, slow swipe.]

It's...gone. Just like the first Tokyo. Me and a couple of my friends? We're all that's left.

[ That was harder to hear than he thought it would be. There was a point where he would have laughed at the idea of the bullshit world being wiped away, but... well, now he knew better. It sucked to know better. ]

That's rough, kid.

Mmm....yeah.

[A hand rubs the back of his neck, looking off to the side. His feelings on Neo Tokyo were mixed at best. And even now he's not sure if he even wants to go back to it....

Then again, staying in America isn't exactly on his top 10 list of to-do's, either.]

I lived, though, right? 's all a guy can ask for.

[ God, he couldn't believe he was saying shit like this. This more shit for the brat and the Nonvestigation Team. Ugh... ]

[ Adachi paused a moment, before gesturing with his beer. ]

Maybe there was something he needed to accomplish back home. He could come back.
