[The scene: the interior of the living room of one of the housing units. A few lamps have been brought over to provide better lighting. A teenage girl with brown hair fiddles with her communicator, pursing her lips this way and that as she adjusts the video. Once she's satisfied, she smiles, steps back and replaces a bright blue top hat on her head.

Now she's all razzle-dazzle.]

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen! It's so wonderful to be here tonight! My name is Trucy Wright, professional magician, and it's my pleasure to officially introduce myself and my services!

Though you may think my promises are empty... [Her hat comes off again and she shows off the interior. Empty, of course.] I guarantee you won't be disappointed once you experience the joy and wonder of an authentic Trucy Wright performance!

[Reaching into her hat, she pulls out a long string of colorful flags, and a banner of letters which reads "Ta Dah!" There is also a burst of glittery confetti as she holds out the flags as to be readable.]

I'm a princess of parties! A baroness of birthdays! A queen of corporate events! A wizard of weddings! And tons of fun at funerals! Furthermore, my rates are very reasonable!

And if a magician isn't what you need, I also represent the east coast branch of the Wright Anything Agency. Legal consultation! Defense! Paperwork! You will say WOW.

[With a grin, Trucy takes a bow.]

So remember, if you need magic, and you need it spectacular, you need Trucy Wright!

[... then reaches into her hat and starts to pull out a broom.]

I'll be available for consultation as soon as I sweep up all the confetti.

Ohhhh—I dunno! But I like your hat better. A tinfoil hat would be all wrinkly and make a lot of noise.

I could try, but then I'd probably know, and I don't want to know how that's done ... it's fun to watch ...

Nooo, no, no, no, no! You can't read my mind to figure out a magic trick! That's cheating! It's no fun once you've figured it out!

If you know the secrets of a magic show, then it's just a plain old boring old regular show! No magic at all!

[huitzilin]

I don't want to know! I really don't!

[oh no, she looks distressed now.]

It just kind of happens ...

It's my sacred duty as a magician to make sure you don't find out, then!

[She reaches into her hat, and draws out a package of foil.]

Just hold on! I'll do the inside of my hat and then we'll be safe!

[huitzilin]

[she squeaks in surprise!]

You'd do that so I could enjoy your show?

[everylittlething]

Naturally! As a magician, it's my sworn, solemn oath to make people laugh and smile and to make sure they enjoy the show. If I have to put foil on my head to make sure, then that's part of the job!

[She gets to work busily lining the inside of her hat with foil, doing her best to make sure it doesn't show.

A few minutes later she replaces her hat with a resolute nod.]

There we go. All better.

[huitzilin]

[there's a little excited squeal in response. her day is made.]

Does that really work? For real? I want to see all of your tricks! Rabbits out of hats and sawing people in half?

Oh—can I be the person you saw in half!?

[everylittlething]

We'll find out! If you start to read my mind, tell me immediately and I'll stop thinking about it immediately!

Oh, great idea! Sure!

[huitzilin]

I'll be Aracely, your lovely assistant! I can put on sequins and be like ta-dah!

[she makes a gesture to the side, giving her best Vanna White impression.]

Now I'm in half!

[everylittlething]

[It's like an escalating spiral of excitement.]

Eee! Perfect! We'll find you the sparkliest dress we can!

How are you at removing a curtain in a very dramatic fashion?

[huitzilin]

I'll blind everyone!

[makes a curtain opening motion one way—then switches and makes it the other way. does a hop once, twice and then jumps into the air, floats upside down and opens the curtain while she's ... floating.]

Curtain! Curtain! Curtain!

[everylittlething]

Ah, you're perfect! You're hired!

[Her enthusiasm is easy to match. And look at that curtain technique!]

Oh, this is gonna be great! I'll show you how to assist me in all my most death-defying stunts!

[huitzilin]

[she's still floating upside down. her arms go ... up? down? she's cheering.]

Yay! I'm hired!

I can help with death-defying! You're a regular death-defier, right? Everyone will be so surprised! All the "oh"s and "ah"s!

[everylittlething]

[The floating definitely needs to work into this somehow. The gears are already spinning in Trucy's head.]

Oh yeah, I defy death all the time [In a totally safe, not-actually-harmful magic way.] I can catch bullets in my teeth! And escape from anything you lock me into!

[huitzilin]

Anything? Is that like anything anything? There was that magician buried in concrete and he walked right out of it like that! Master of escaping!
