G'day g'day, this is Sarissa Theron, local hero and devastatingly good looking rural.

( She seems in a better mood than last time she posted, and better form - and sure, she is, but it's also Sarissa trying very very ahrd to be Okay, and definitely not actually being Okay. Still, there's a healthy flush to her cheeks, and unlike last time she's got a smear of mud on her cheek and is looking like she's been working outside. Wherever she is, she's definitely in a field, and there's a shed nearby. )

I know, two posts from me, in one month? Overkill, definitely. But this is so important. Or, should I say,

( Yes, viewers. In-frame is a very large sow, pink with black patches. Around her are nine little piglets, varied from all pink to speckled to covered in patches, and one that is totally black. )

I just rescued these guys from a bit of a situation. Got them a special shed and I just finished the fences on the fields a couple days ago, so good timing, but I gotta head back into town to pick up some more supplies and that. If anyone has any fruit and veggies or pig feed or straw or - I mean, anything that you wanna donate to the rescue pig extravaganza, lemme know.

( A thumbs up; she is so excited. Pigs!!! ) And I need help coming up with names, because they can't all be Hamlet or Francis Bacon.

Nah, not him. He'd be for breeding with a sow to make the ones that'd be eaten. Breeding males are always more expensive than females when it comes to getting livestock.

Yeah, my uncle had a sheep stud back home. Never learned the ins and outs of the breeding side, myself.

I'm open to it. You want to come meet them when they're a little bigger, see how you like their temperaments and that? It'll give me a chance to see if the animal welfare place was able to track down more of the sow's history from the place she got confiscated from, so you know what you're getting for breeding and that.

Sure. Ain't really set up for pigs over here yet. Still working on the enclosure and making sure there's space in the barn for them and the cow we're looking to get.

Easy. Let me know when you want to check them out and you got your stuff sorted and we can see if a boy or two take your fancy. You probably know already, but herd animals and company and that, if you got room for two that might be nicer for them.

I've taken care of pigs before.

[Caught a flu and had to be used as bait for walkers after a few months, but still... he'd helped with it. Learned what had to be done.]

I'll be making space for him and two girls and whatever babies come from them. Depending on what we can do with the barn, might have enough for two brothers. Just gotta see about the cow and finish moving the chickens. Hoping for a couple goats, too.

Oh, mate, goats are the worst. They eat everything, especially stuff they aren't meant to. Sheep are heaps better.

Sounds like you got it all figured out. I might get some chooks myself, if my sister doesn't kill me over the pigs.

Yes, shit, silkies are amazing. Have you ever seen an onagadori? Fuckers have tail feathers can be five bloody metres long. They're the Rapunzels of chickens, I swear to Christ.

Right? I love ridiculous animals as much as the next girl, but I don't know human's that'd be that good at looking after 5m of hair, let alone a chicken.

Pretty sure you'd have to take them to a groomer on a daily basis. Already enough people doing that with their dogs. Don't need to start with chickens.
