[Video] Arrival

[Was that a mask? The visual shows what appears to be some sort of skeletal alien mask and the voice that accompanies it sounds oddly mechanical. Some here may recognize the cyborg General, even if just from historical records. While arriving as human, he'd quickly discovered his powers of transformation from the files he was given then after some brief experimenting he settled on the one he'd last been most familiar with. At least for now.]

Citizens. Heroes.

[The emphasized word seems to catch in his throat and there's a brief cough before he continues with an underlying growl to his tone.]

This is an unfortunate development. I was interrupted in the midst of a critical battle. I do not have time to deal with your little world's problems.

[The words are interrupted again by more coughing then an annoyed growl before the video cuts out abruptly.]

[Oh wonderful. The rudest Jedi. The General isn't pleased to see him.]

Anakin Skywalker... So we meet again.

[Jedi isn't all that accurate.]

It's a nice reunion, isn't it?

[He has no idea yet about the Vader and Anakin connection, though Vader's name has been mentioned to him in passing.]

That would not be they way I would phrase it.

[Well isn't that fun? He grins suddenly, his eyes brightening with a twisted sort of amusement.]

Why not? We might have more in common now, General.

I do not think that we have any of the same goals, Jedi.

[Yes, he's rubbing in that word.]

That last word isn't up to date. [Rub it in all you want.]

What are you talking about?

I haven't exactly made it public yet, but I've taken on a new Master. [For the time being.] The Jedi are finished.

So you have turned from their ways?

[Not unheard of; maybe good news.]

Yes. [He can't go back. For good or ill, this is his path.] My Master has given me a new name.

And what would that be?

Darth Vader. [A name that no one knows during his time. Not yet. But they will.]

[Of course the last part doesn't ring any bells, but Darth? That's... an interesting development.]

So you have joined with the Sith. What brought about this change of heart?

[Unexpected and heart-breaking for those who ally themselves with the Jedi.]

I'll be happy to tell you; just not on a public network.

Then we should meet somewhere. Name your place.

It'll be easier for me to come to you. Where did you end up?

I am in the town known as Heropa. The house number is five. I will meet you outside of it.

I will be there as soon as I can. See you soon, General. [He ends the feed and hurries through the streets of Heropa, the hood of his cloak drawn over his features. Each city has something to offer and he finds it easier on his heart and mind to stay moving. His home is in De Chima, but he has not stayed there very often as of yet.

As a show of good faith, he keeps his lightsaber sheathed at his waist as he approaches the fifth house.]

This is not a meeting I ever foresaw.

It is not the first. I would hope that this time you will be more respectful.

[He remembers the cocky kid with the insults in their one brief meeting. But already he could see something different about this young man before him. Something in the bearing. Himself, he was looking much the same - in his cyborg form and with that long cloak draped over his shoulders. In some ways this form caused him discomfort and he was learning the pros and cons of being able to change into other forms at whim but for now he kept with the most familiar to those who were from his galaxy.]

[His lips twitch in memory of that previous meeting. However the amusement doesn't last; it fades as if he has been doused in cold water. He glances around, reaching out in the Force for any signs of eavesdroppers. Finding none, he lowers his hood and inclines his head.]

Forgive me, General. I was young and stupid. I thought I knew everything. [Now he only knows there is so much more to learn.] You asked what led to this decision and the answer is simple: the Jedi failed everybody. They refuse to let me help and they purposefully keep information from me. I cannot abide that anymore.

[Vader may eventually discover that he and Grievous have more in common than either of them knew. Both manipulated. Both lost somebody very important to them. Both made more machine than flesh and used by Darth Sidious for the Sith's own ends. Much of this Grievous himself was even unaware of, at least at the present time.]

So you finally understand that the Jedi are not what they claim to be. Their agenda is only to further their own means and they do not come to those who would give them a fairer and balanced judgement on any situation. Their ways are arrogant and narrow-minded.

Perhaps you see better now why they needed to be stopped.

[He senses that he is being used by Sidious, but there are some key events he hasn't experienced yet. It's much easier to say, at this point, that he will kill his new Master once he has learned all he can from him.]

I do understand. [But he isn't going to apologize for not seeing it before. How could he have? They took him out of slavery, taught him...seemed to care for him...] I am stopping them. The majority of them have been killed.

[Unfortunately for Grievous, he doesn't have any sensitivity to the Force, although he has his own instincts and some nagging feeling of some things being off. He doesn't question them, and that was part of the manipulation.]

Excellent. Others have been telling me of this. Of there being a purge of the Jedi. Of there being maybe only one of them remaining in these future times.

Soon then, the galaxy will be free of their influence.

[That "only one" might be his son, but Anakin doesn't let his thoughts drift there. Being around Luke is confusing enough and he isn't sure where he stands or where he wants to stand with him.]

It seems like my Master and I are at the head of it. The Sith will take control and the galaxy will be united into an Empire. Everyone will be kept safe.

Who is this Master of yours?

[He knew Dooku was gone in his time. Did the fallen Jedi mean Sidious? He suspected so but wanted it confirmed.]
