Recent arrival here. I'm looking for information - apart from that which the government has so kindly provided [sarcasm ftw] - about this upcoming Swear-In Ceremony. What does it entail and how much coercion is involved? The unofficial version, in other words.

Also, a decent Indian restaurant. [If there is such a thing in this backwater.]

I have found 'Delectable Dosa' quite worthwhile. It is in Maurtia Falls.

As for the Swear-In, I can tell you that our gracious hosts rely more on bribery than on coercion. Refusing to Register does have its consequences, however.

As for the ceremony, I haven't been other than to register when I first got here. Figured life would be easier for me if I played along.

My experience of the swearing-in is that it involves the same tyranny of sameness you find back home. It is a rote, mechanical ceremony designed to ostracise difference through the abduction of individuals, rather than their induction. A literal abduction at that, considering our method of arrival.

It's also become something of a protest platform, and a pointless one at that.

I stopped attending a while ago for such reasons.

Coercion is often replaced with bribery. The government will give registered imPorts perks to make life easier, such as money, a job, housing or lack of bureaucracy.

I just got here too, so I can't help with the stuff about Registration. All I know is that if you don't register you might lose your housing, job and access to the teleporter things.

But there's a really nice Indian food place here in Heropa if you want to check it out. I don't know about the other cities, though. Again, I'm sorry. [She texts him the address, sighing. Well, she tried her best.]

Well, sometimes the ceremony can be quite lavish. It's a good way to meet people and make connections. Get to know whom you may encounter whilst you're here.

I didn't feel coerced into registering but maybe it's different for other people.

Yes, that's a consideration, even if the idea of registration is unappealing in itself.

The threat of revoking benefits is a form of coercion, but it depends on how important said benefits are to you.

Not all that much reason to agree to it. Depends how much you trust the Government and what you're willing to lose out on.

Most likely your questions have been answered already as I'm here fashionably late. But they won't likely coerce you, darling. They won't even bat an eye if you choose not to register. Of course, registration matters little one way or the other. Their promises can be a lie and our loyalty can be a lie. Both come with a great many perks in between there.
