Video; Down by the Water

You guys! Oh my gosh, you guys.

[The voice is breathless, shaking somewhat along with the video feed as it tries to focus on the person in frame.]

Feel free to ignore me after this, but for the next few seconds at least, you have to see what I'm seeing.

[Finally the blurry figure focuses into a grinning woman in hiking clothes, her hair in a ponytail and a bead of sweat rolling down her cheek, who chuckles once before turning the camera around. It's a little unclear where the video is being recorded from, other than somewhere hilly outside of any of the porter cities, and it's a little unclear what everyone's meant to be focusing on as well. Until the shot zooms in a bit, framing about a dozen big, furry puffballs huddled up near a stream, including a few smaller ones playing together on the edge of the water.]

Capybaras! I'm, like, 90% sure they're capybaras, which makes no sense, but there they are! I, um- I know things have been... especially rough in the porter cities the last couple weeks-- [Including something about zoo animals that have been released or something, though that obviously isn't relevant to anything going on here, why would anyone think that??] --but maybe for a second we can all just chill and watch some baby capybaras play in the water?

I'm pretty sure this is the definition of therapeutic.

Like, twenty minutes outside Maurtia Falls? Which is a long way from where they should be.

Maybe? Even then, making it out this far without getting caught is pretty impressive.

Yeah, no kidding. I wonder if they're okay wandering around like that... I guess they must be, if they've made it this far out, and for so many days since the zoo break out.

I can't say I actually know much about capybaras, but they... seem alright, yeah

I've read a little bit about them... I can talk to rodents, and I got curious awhile back just how far that would extend. I've never had the chance to try it on capybaras, though.

Thanks. Do you think you'll still be there for a little while? I'd hate to miss them if they wander off before I get there.

[ He's already heading for the Heropa Porter station. ]

Maybe. I have plans later, but I can probably stick around a bit longer.

[ Piper makes surprisingly good time showing up at the spot Ruby had sent directions to, though he does look a little winded by the time he makes it up the trail she was hiking, breathing hard as he greets her. ]

[Wanda speaks with a smile. Ruby's cute excitement, cute baby capybaras, like wtf isn't quality about this video? Nothing, that's what. It is all 100% quality content.

Then there's a short pause.]

Oh yeah, I guess the capybaras are cute too. [#smooth.]

[At some point before his arrival, Ruby has apparently sat down on a large rock next to the trail, but stands again as she sees him approach, smiling and nodding her chin in the direction of the creek.]

No problem. There was a second there where it looked like they were about to take off, but you got lucky. They're still here.

I do actually want to pet a baby capybara through the screen, though. Too bad I can't.

If those are babies, where's their mother? [He is very invested in these small creatures all of a sudden. So cute, so fluffy, he must protect them.] ...is a capybara something that can be kept as a pet? Maybe we should contact their owners.

Apparently. Pretty sure Pennsylvania isn't their natural habitat though.
