[This is a weird step for Futaba--video makes her face known to the entire network--she's barely used to giving her actual name. Still, she's busy making actual notes on scratch paper. Her usual curtain of hair is tied up in a mess of a bun because of the heat, and she seems concerned about something. She's still focused on her list as she starts speaking.]

Does anyone here actually...go to school? I mean...American schools start up soon right? I made a promise I'd try going back when I was home. I guess this would count--even if it isn't one of the schools I was planning on going to.

[She frowns, setting down her paper and sticking her pencil behind her ear.]

Point being...I have questions.

Are these schools public? And even then...do they require uniforms? All the schools back home had them, even if some of the dress codes were pretty lax. At least I had an idea of what to expect there.

...Ugh, Maybe I shouldn't even go. This is getting complicated.

It depends on the school. My little sister was in a public school over Heropa, no uniform required.

School is important, I think you should go. It's good to learn and it's good to have a routine in this place too. [ and not just focus on raiding clone laboratories ]

I think that depends on what you learn. I already have a theoretical understanding of cognitive psience...engineering. Can you skip grades here??

That shouldn't be too hard. Prep schools almost always have 'em, and I think the charter and magnet schools too.

You could tour the schools, once you narrow it down? Maybe bring a friend too, just in case.

I could probably do that. One of my friends isn't sure about going back either...

See I'm thinking the same way. It's not like any of these schools would compare to Kosei...or Shujin. I'm being denied my typical Japanese school yard experiences here.

I'd rather get private tutoring in shit I actually care about. Like finance stuff.

[She laughs, nodding in agreement.] No, no I get that. I mean...I didn't go to school back home--used the internet to learn everything I needed to. But...I told my dad I'd try going again.

[A promise she's tempted to keep even though her father wasn't here.]

Someone was telling me about magnet schools. I guess they specialize in things--art, theatre...Maybe we could find one of those.

Bummer. I was actually kind of hoping to complete my promise...

Yep, all of them! I went to one for like a month and became a teen runaway because it was so awful. Plus teenagers are real jerks and they bully you for things you didn't do.

But I've been able to learn things on my own before. I really...want to go more to prove to myself that I can handle it. The social aspect of it.

Learning is one thing, but if you have a degree, then it's easy to prove your skills to others.

I managed to hack all of Shibuya and I still need a degree. You know how silly it sounds to say we need a piece of paper to prove our skills, right?

...Yeah. Friends are part of it. It's also the part that makes me nervous.
