I can't sleep.
[Normally D33 might have something a little more eloquent to say (or at least something a little more long-winded), but, then again, normally D33 would have also gotten more than a couple of hours of sleep in a week.
[Not this one. He's been up for a solid seventy-two now at least, and that's only if you're counting the brief two to three hours of tossing and turning in between. With mild hallucinations starting to set in, D33 is beginning to get desperate.
[Despite the increasing paranoia, he is willing to try just about anything at this point.]
I am in need of advice. Leave suggestions below.
Please.

You can try white noise as well, like a fan, which can be soothing. Avoid anything with lights, specially screens, and try cooling your room a bit.

I often find myself falling asleep while reading a good book. It helps me relax though I end up waking up on a couch or chair rather than my bed.

when I have difficulty sleeping, I listen to music.no subject
What sort of music?

[There has been an awful lot going on lately - he just hadn't thought he'd been so affected by it.]
I've always plenty to think of, I can assure you.
[And not all of it has to do with his present situation. There's always plenty of trauma from the past to dig up when things in the Porter cities get dull.]

Lowering your body temperature will also help. Turn down your thermostat. Keep bedsheets and pajamas to a minimum.
I've resorted to a 10-minute ice bath one hour before bedtime, and it knocked me out like an elephant tranquilizer. Not pleasant by any means, but it gets the job done. Combine that with 1 to 3mg of melatonin for good measure, and your body will have no choice but to give in to sleep's sweet embrace.
no subject
[He still isn't terribly keen on the idea - ice baths had been ingrained in him as a punishment from the time he was a child - a rather effective one, in fact. Even thinking about it makes his body begin to tense anxiously.
[And if sleeping pills really cause sleep walking, then those won't do either - so, maybe he's not willing to try anything.
Beggers can't be chooser, D33, come on.]What does lowering your body temperature do to aid in one's sleep?
[There's a short pause between messages - even when he's this tired he can find the time to be curious. This is the second time music's been brought up now.]
What kind of music might you suggest?
I am quite unfamiliar, you know.

- something to listen to can relieve own thoughts - spoken word poss. better than music e.g. narrative, weather report droning, childrens programming (reliably lacks violence) - turn visual off/cover screen for sound only
- fresh air if available + ambient outdoor sounds can help or not
- orgasms - masturbation maybe more conducive though bedmate can help depending on relationship/sleeping habits
- a pet who will sleep through the night - reptiles and predator mammals usually best
- dont make goal 'sleep' - make goal 'resting' - relieve some internal pressure / meditation, stretches, breathing, visualizations, etc - as with audio aid: distract/trick self into allowing not forcing
- sedatives worth try - for some can cause restive dreams - avoid self-medicating
can offer more personalized advice if youre interested in sharing details
no subject
The orgasm one definitely hasn't been working.Even so, he saves the message, decides to take note of them in case he truly become desperate.[That sedative one, however, he still finds himself silently rejecting.]
My thanks and I am not.

I believe I am at tempting your first sugestion currently.
[Given D33's previous aversion to alcohol, this might come as a surprise to Mickey - but, then again, desperate times do call for desperate measures.
[And besides, this is...kind of nice? Don't mind the typos.]
