So, hi!

[The setting: an ice cream parlor, somewhere in Heropa. The scene: Foggy Nelson, eating ice cream, because somebody offered him free ice cream with toppings and he's broke. He gives the camera a little wave and a friendly grin.]

I'm Foggy Nelson—yeah, I know, not my idea, but I'm not changing it now—and I have some questions. Don't worry, I got the "welcome to another world, you have superpowers" speech, I just have some concerns it didn't address.

[Lots and lots of them, actually, but he'll just start with the most pressing.]

First of all, I'm a lawyer back at home. Got a law firm and a partner and even a sign for our office. [A pause, during which he looks quickly away from the camera and lets out a quiet, tired sigh like he's already missing it, then:] Of course, you don't have any reason to believe me, and I don't have any proof to back me up here. Which leads me to my first question: do my qualifications still carry over into an alternate universe? Because, man, being an insurance claim investigator is the only thing that's probably worse than being a lawyer. [He's both, so he gets to be funny about this.]

Second, I might need a crash course on imPort law. I'm pretty sure immigration law doesn't quite cover "forcibly dragged to another universe" that well, and I only got maybe a sketch of the benefits of registration when I tried to ask. [This whole registration thing honestly comes off as a little sketchy to Foggy, but he's going to keep his trap shut on that much.]

Third—does anyone here know what I mean when I say the Avengers? How about the Incident? I—just need to know.

One more reason for me to take the bar again, I guess. [He looks and sounds distinctly sour about it, shaking his head as if he really wishes he didn't have to go through that again. Seriously, the first time had been hellish enough.

His face considerably brightens. Hey, there are people from his world here! He's not the only one!]

No, you can tell me—I'm from the same world they are. [He hasn't learned yet about the existence of the Avengers on multiple worlds.] They're here? You've met them?

At least you took it once before and know more than you knew then? [ maybe? ]

Not exactly. Many people who arrive here ask about them. Bruce Banner was here and if I remember right, he mentioned having helped them. [ no, kaneki doesn't know he is PART of them ] Tony Stark has been mentioned as part of the Avengers before, but I'm not sure if Mr. Stark is from that specific universe or not. [ bruce didn't go into detail ]

Yeah, but I'm not sure how much of what I know applies here. [He sighs, digging his spoon into his ice cream.] For example: I know the Cold War ended in 1991, but that's not true here. So what else isn't?

What do you mean? Do the Avengers exist in multiple universes or something?

True- and if you look at Hero law, you'll have a lot of surprises, as well. [ like how Heroes are forgiven literally everything, from opening Portals to hell, to releasing a fear toxin in the middle of a crowd, turning them maniac ]

I can't be certain, but I know there are parallel universes and multiple versions of the same universe. So they might exist in some worlds, but not in others.

Can you spoil them for me?

[A beat. Then:] Of course they do. [A tired sigh, and Foggy shakes his head a little.] There goes that litmus test I had. I was hoping to see how many of us were from the same world, but—

[A helpless shrug.]

Let's see... Native heroism has been illegal since after 2008. However, I'm certain this will change soon as we now have native metahumans since last year. as for imports, the maximum sentence an imPort will ever get is two months in jail and some probation time after. Yes - even if they kill people. [ kaneki is a bit bitter about the judicial system when it comes to imPorts ]

It'll be a bit tricky. You will probably have to compare worlds.

What the hell? That's barely a slap on the wrist, at best.

[What is wrong with the judicial system on this world? Seriously, two months and some time on probation is not nearly enough time to serve for murder, in Foggy's opinion.]

There's actually one other guy outside of the Avengers that I can think of. [He taps his fingers against the table.] Ever heard of Daredevil?

It is. Many have shown how displeased they are with that situation, but the government isn't keen on changing this any time soon.

[ kaneki shakes his head ] There are no public records of someone by that name. But then again, some heroes didn't advertise themselves.
