So. What is the big deal about turning eighteen anyway? What do you do then? I mean. Sure. University or whatever, I'm looking into that. It's not all that different from being seventeen is it? I dunno on having some massive party or anything.

I could see how it might be a big deal back home, but. Not so much here, I guess.

It was too black and white for me. You're either right or wrong. I preferred classes where you can have opinions.

I was never the best with school in general. But then, I missed out on a lot of it with everything that happened back home, so. That probably isn't so surprising.

It's not surprising that you missed out. I missed out on graduating because of stuff that happened back where I'm from. At least we can have opportunities here.

You did? What happened? Graduating is supposed to be a big deal, right?

Really bad stuff happened.

You don't have to say. Or, not like this, if you don't want.

Did you at least keep up studying here?

[am_i_a_monster]

Sort of. I study on my own sometimes.

[dejerate]

Yeah? What are you studying now?

[am_i_a_monster]

Psychology mostly.

[dejerate]

That's studying the mind or whatever, right? I think we might go into that a little with the child development stuff if I go through with this study.

[am_i_a_monster]

You probably will. It's fascinating really, all the ways that childhood stuff can affect people.

[dejerate]

Fascinating? I hadn't really figured on it. But then I probably try not to. Considering my childhood and how messed up that all was.

I'm starting to think everyone's childhood is messed up in some way.

[dejerate]

I'm sure at least some had more happy, normal childhoods out of all of us here. Probably. Just not me.

[Or Mika. But he isn't about to go into that. That's Mika's business to share.]

Mine didn't start out messed up. But it got really messed up.

Probably the case for a lot of kids though. Things really.....went downhill when I was seven, really.

That's really young. That sucks.

Some of the other kids were at the orphanage even younger than I was. Most of them were, actually. Mika, Akane and I were the older ones there.

[am_i_a_monster]

I never went to an orphanage. I was put in a hospital type place.

[dejerate]

A hospital?

[am_i_a_monster]

Yeah.

[dejerate]

I dunno if that would be better or worse than the orphanage.

[am_i_a_monster]

It was bad. I used to climb over walls to escape.

[dejerate]

Yeah. Our attempt to escape didn't go so well, when we tried to run from the vampires. Guessing you probably got caught too?

The first times I had to go back.

I did find somewhere else that I thought would be good. But I died there. I never had vampires though.
