002 ✴ video (slightly backdated to evening of the 31st)
[ The feed, doesn't even start off with Bodhi. It starts off, pointed at a tv screen where a killer in a white mask and a large knife is stalking his prey. Teenagers. The loud breathing from behind the mask can be heard. A seasoned movie fan might recognize the movie as Halloween. ]
What is she doing?
[ The camera turns, and it's Bodhi -- you can tell, despite the room being lit only by the flickering tv screen. There's a bowl of candy in his lap, but he's a little too transfixed to the screen to pay it much mind (there is a small pile of wrappers sitting beside him, though), where he sets down the device beside him. ]
Didn't she notice the door was unlocked --? Oh, he's going to be in the car isn't he?
[ The girl on screen doesn't seem to have the same thoughts as Bodhi. He gives the camera a quick, sidelong look, finally. ]
It's like these people in the movie want to get kill -- oh, damn!
[ Bodhi, despite expecting it, gives a start as a loud noise fills the room, and the sounds of the girl being murdered are overheard, candy bowl falling to the floor. His hands are over his mouth, eyes wide and transfixed on the screen. When the scene is over, a few seconds later, he seems to relax a little, giving a nervous laugh and shaking his head. ]
I don't think I get the appeal of these kinds of films.

For this guy in particular? Someone told me they made seven movies, but two of them weren't out by my time. [If someone told her about the reboot, she'd be even more peeved.] There's also the Friday the 13th movies. They made—[give her a moment while she counts off the sequels on her hand]—eight of them.
So you can make at least eight movies out of one guy killing people.
[action]
Eight? You can't be serious. How many times you can watch the same guy murder people, and he not get stopped? It's one person. It's not -- it's not like we're talking Darth Vader and the Empire --
[ This is bothering him so much. ]
At least tell me someone makes it.
[action]
[So it's not all bad!!]
And technically the guy does keep getting stopped at the end of every movie. It just also doesn't last for very long, because they have to sell tickets for the next movie.
[action]
[ Okay, it's better than none. ]
Of course they do. I just don't know someone would want to watch the same thing over and over again. It seems very... redundant.
[action]
[Yeah, sorry to burst your bubble, Bodhi.]
I have. [Munching on some popcorn.] My friend Martha memorized The Princess Bride, she liked the happy ending. And I'd watch with her, so—[she shrugs, as if to say, and now I know the lines too.] It's like reading a book you've read before. It's technically redundant, you've read it before, but you liked it enough to go again. [She pauses. Maybe that's not the best metaphor. Hm.] Or you're studying for a test and you don't remember the material anymore.
[action]
Horror movies just aren't his thiiiing. ]
Do you have it?
[action]
The Princess Bride? No, but I could rent it from a Blockbuster. Or whatever video rental's here.
[action]
Maybe in this house, a movie like this isn't particularly well enjoyed. ]
How about we go rent it?
