Greetings.

[ Again Thrawn is calmly seated in that same front room he has been in for all of his public posts. ]

It was recently told to me that the truth has merit. It has also been said that the galaxy that many of those of us, including General Grievous and the varying Jedi represented here, come from has seen a great deal of war. So to clear away any lingering haze of misunderstanding, or mistrust perhaps it is better to explain from neutral standpoint.

First please be aware that I am no Jedi, nor affiliated with the Republic. For me, all of this is history. But I have an interest in the Clone War era…and I rather mislike the use of noncombatants as ditractions.

The war's name is derived from the clone troopers utilized by the Republic against that of the battle droid forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The respective armies that each composed the Army of the Republic and the Separatist Droid Army. Beginning with the First Battle of Geonosis, the conflict quickly spread throughout the galaxy with both sides scoring significant victories over the other. At different times during the war, it seemed that either side was likely to triumph.

As the Clone War engulfed many worlds across the galaxy, the Jedi relinquished their traditional roles as peacekeepers, in favor of military commands within the Army of the Republic. Knights and Masters accepted the new rank of Jedi General. I personally find a deep flaw in this as they were niether trained for warfare nor prepared to handle the consequences of command.

The next two years of the war saw both sides skirmish with and raid each other, with worlds such as Ryloth, Felucia, Malastare, and Kamino becoming flashpoints. During this time, the Separatists resorted to varied forms of warfare, developing weapons like the twin ion cannons of the battleship Malevolence and a weaponized variant of the Blue Shadow Virus, all in order to impair the Republic war machine.

By the war's third and final year, the Republic drove the Separatists into redoubts within the Outer Rim Territories, initiating a campaign that was termed the Outer Rim Sieges. In an effort to reverse the course of the war, Grievous launched a massive strike on Coruscant through the Deep Core. Much of the Confederate fleet was lost in this assault along with, Head of State Count Dooku. The Confederacy would quickly lose its core leadership in quick succession, with Grevious subsequently falling in battle during the Battle of Utapau, and the Separatist Council being massacred on Mustafar. This, coupled with the deactivation of the droid army, lead to the capitulation of the Confederacy and with it, an end to the war.

It has been spoken of elsewhere that being brought to this "earth" is what amounts to another chance. Perhaps it is some twist of fate that so many of us are here. Because in that respect it is another chance. It is another chance to fight the ghost of a war that has no place here and is long since over.

Thank you for your time.

((OOC: Since Kalee plays a big part of Thrawn's career in Heir to the Empire for original Thrawn books I really wanted to do a thing with it. Cut lots out but overview lifted straight from the wiki. ))

Sir,

May I have your permission to add some of this data to the common timeline [ attached ] I've been compiling?

I would also welcome any other additions or annotations you'd care to make.

- Cassian Andor
former intelligence agent

[OOC: Can handwave if this is a chore… 'cause I suspect Thrawn could provide an avalanche of bullet points, and I'm not actually trying to give players homework ^_^ I will gleefully add anything you might want to submit to the timeline, but its true OOC function is to facilitate connecting IC! ;-) ]

[Poe is on the space station so he is floating when the video comes on, but he's in his pod so there's no good view, sorry Thrawn.]

This whole thing has been pretty strange. By the time I was born the Jedi were considered a myth - and the clone wars was only a few decades before that. Less than a century.

The Empire did everything in its power to erase as much of the Republic's history as it could. And the opinions here have been - varied. To say the least.

[Well this is certainly interesting. Obi-Wan is starting to wonder how often that their galaxy's dirty laundry is going to be aired publicly like that. It's getting to be exhausting.]

I couldn't help but notice you left out some key points of your historical recounting from your neutral standpoint, Grand Admiral.

[Dooku squints at this post a moment, weighing its meaning before he responds. Is this Imperial a threat or an asset? Is his interest in stability genuine, or slanted?

Only one way to find out.]

Your contribution toward peace is appreciated, Admiral. Please believe me when I say that the Separatists here have no wish to bring the ghost of the Clone Wars to Earth, so long as we are left to pursue our own devices.

Well the Jedi Purge for one, Padme. And the Republic being reorganized into the Galactic Empire.

[ josh is very invested in clones for obvious reasons. ]

kamino is where the clones came from right?
did the planet survive?
are there many clones left after all of that?
were they eventually allowed to do stuff other than fight?

[He misses his ion cannons... He lost so many good ships.]

One corrupt government was replaced by another from what I have been told. If we had been victorious then this would not have been allowed.

[So much he doesn't know...]

These Jedi created living beings to lead to slaughter. Can they be called the righteous ones there?

[He doesn't think much of his battle droids, only as useless machines.]

Sounds like your galaxy has an interesting history.

[His specialty may be Anglo-Saxon history, but he can find other topics interesting, especially if that history is an entire galaxy away.]

[Poe, luckily, has enough facial expressions for the both of them, and this one is a sort of dawning realisation coupled with 'not this again'.]

Uh huh. Except when the Empire was burned to the ground, no one tried to erase the history that it existed.

Because, oh, I don't know, it's almost as if attempting to control access to information is a tactic used to oppress the populace, but hey, what do I know.

If they want to argue about it, that's fine- I can't think of any imPort who's fully set aside their own worlds and what they cared about there. [Sabriel's voice is polite and detatched, but there's a sharp undercurrent.]

But this world has laws which imPorts cannot set aside to satisfy their own feuds.

You seem to have left out some rather important parts of the end of the war.

Though your explanation of the war itself seems a fairly thorough overview, I feel that the context of the interference by the Sith dating back to the invasion of Naboo is not at all unimportant.

[Eli pops in, his usual mood of "if he were a dog his tail would be wagging 90mph" present. Though he knows the history, he's very pleased at Thrawn having decided to contribute to the discussion. Eli isn't knowledgeable like Thrawn. And, he is focused on the last thing Thrawn has said.

Eli is ridiculously pleased.]

It is another chance for many and we should respect that.

I remember that a bit differently.

How many Jedi were on campaigns, serving the Republic, myself included, when their troops turned on them with no warning. Slaughtering many of their commanding generals that they had worked with for years.

It wasn’t until after that, that the war officially ended and the Republic was reorganized into the Empire you now know.

I’m afraid you are grossly misinformed General.

We were not responsible for the creation of the clones. I’m afraid much of the credit for that goes to your own Count Dooku.
vanto: (♟so that makes it all your fault)
