The facility was in Colorado. Alaska.. I'm not sure, I haven't heard enough, but we weren't kidnapped outside of the main body of states that make up the United States.

I think this is a little too Hunger Games to write it off as just the Soviets. After their paintball event (which you missed: it was imPort versus imPort with visceral if not actual death experience), I wouldn't be assuming that it's a "common enemy." That would just be stupid.

As for the news, they're likely keeping names out of it to preserve privacy. The less names there are, the less of a personal connection people can find. It means they can sweep this under the rug.

My point is, I don't think it's the Soviets. Their previous attacks don't line up with this one in the least. There's no consistency between the two. If they could throw us into arenas and make us kill each other, why didn't they go with that trump card instead of giant mechanical sharks and spies downing rockets? Their attacks are more targeted and focused.

1. The Hunger Games is a book series out in my world where a bunch of kids are forced to attack and murder each other in an arena. The paintball game was sponsored by the US government, not the Soviets.

2. Or video games, right? People like having a scapegoat. (No, I don't play video games. My best friends do.)

3. I shot an arrow into one of their mouths. It worked out.
