[The video opens on a young man and a large, floating hunk of rock. With eyes. Completely nonplussed by this, Jean-Yves rubs the Fairy type's head as he speaks.]

Hello. My name is Jean-Yves and I'm, ah, I'm new here. Again. Arriver comme un cheveu sur la soupe, that's me. [He shrugs, self-deprecating, not as bothered as he should be by this whole world-hopping-thing.] I have two questions of varying importance. Firstly, is there anyone else here with Pokemon who can help me explain them to the locals? Apparently this world doesn't have them and while my Goomy seems to be endearing to people, Blinkeux here is having a harder time fitting in. It's really getting him down. I mean, just look at him. [Blinkeux stares into the camera, expression completely unchanged.] See? C'est dommage.

Secondly, how do I turn off my superpower? I may have ruined a government car earlier... with hail. From the inside. I apologized to the driver, but I still feel kind of bad about it. I'd rather not do that again...

Guess it's in the nature. They aren't all gonna be exactly alike, especially different species. All ya can do is keep tryin' to teach him not to.

[a pause. he rubs his chin.]

Uh-- this is gonna be a weird question, but do you know about mega-evolution?

[Jean-Yves instantly responds by turning the camera back around to point at himself, holding up his Mega Ring.] I do. I'm sort of the Professor's favorite student looking into the topic right now. But all the Pokemon I have that can Mega Evolve are back home.

['All'. Because at this point that list could be its' own team, and it still hadn't really helped him when it came time to save the world because he had underestimated just how many goons Lysandre could put inbetween him and Yveltal.]

Good-- good. You don't gotta do it or anythin', I was just wondering.

[the timeline mystery congeals...]

I'm sorry you don't have them here. Everyone else doesn't have access to the rest of our Pokémon, so we know how you feel. It's pretty hard to get used to, if you even can.

My friend Serena and I are surprisingly good at the whole Mega Evolution thing. That being said, it's still a new area of science, so even though we're doing our best to help the Professor, we don't have all the answers to why or how it works.

I miss my team, but I'm glad I at least have some of them with me. I can't imagine life without any of them by my side. [He reaches out and pets his Carbink, who nuzzles into his hand and chirps affectionately.] So, um. How many other people here with Pokemon are there?

I can mega-evolve my Sharpedo. It was a long journey, perfecting it, but we can do it flawlessly now.

[crobat, still behind him, chirps in agreement. archie sounds proud of the fact he can do it, because he is!!! it was hard!!!]

Uhh... three, now. Not counting me. There were others but... they come and go.

Serena can Mega Evolve her Absol. They're working on perfecting it. Her Absol... went through a rough time before she got it. There's some trust issues there. They're an unfairly maligned species. Then again, so are Sharpedos, sometimes. I'm glad you looked past the offputting appearance.

[He has some many feels related to Pokemon and the stereotypes people put on them. So. Many.]

I see. I'm sorry some of the people you knew aren't here anymore. That must be hard to deal with.

Yeah. That have that disaster reputation in Hoenn, too. They're pretty rare in populated areas, still. [he snorts.] Oi! They ain't offputting, they're adorable!

[he shakes his head.]

It's fine. It happens. They've gone home, where they belong. I can't be upset about that.

They're not very common in Kalos, either. And, um, Sharpedo aren't very well-liked in Kalos - people prefer Alomomola - but then again, neither are Carbink, and Blinkeux is mon petit pierre précieuse. [Carbink settles in Jean-Yves' lap, smiling, going off of the expression when it shuts its' eyes.]

If you say so. So who are the people from our world still here, then?

Alomomola is a natural healer, so they would. Sharpedo aren't actually as bad as they appear, if you can look past them to understand strength in numbers. Always backing up your friends.

[even if it's... in eating a ship. listen.]

Blue an' Red, those Kanto champs and Maxie, also from Hoenn. Uh. Do you know about that stuff that happened in Hoenn? With the sea and land beasts.

My Carvnha has a Timid nature and he's afraid of his own shadow, of my other Pokemon, and of rain. I'm sure there's strength in there somewhere, but it's a little buried at the moment.

[Jean-Yves raises his eyebrows for a moment, but nods.] Not all the details, just that someone woke Kyogre up and it went badly. Um. Je redoute la réponse, but do you know or did you hear anything about an ultimate weapon Legendary Pokemon in Kalos lately? Or a group called Team Flare?

Just let him out as much as possible. I know he'll probably want to hide, but being out lets him get used to the world.

[his soul leaves his body, but he shakes his head.]

No, I'm a... little behind. What did they do? Teams are bad news, most of the time. --Don't tell me that involves what I think it does...

Team Flare remade the ancient weapon from three thousand years ago that wiped out tons of people, gathered energy through a series of various petty and seemingly unconnected crimes, and used that energy to wake up Yveltal to try to use the weapon to wipe out all life on the planet except for the people within Team Flare.

It's been a long six months fighting them. But, uh, comment puis-je même dire cela? Um, my friends and I stopped them. By catching Yveltal.

That's f-- messed up. I'm sorry you had to go through that, but the world's lucky you and your friends were there.

[he sighs. he doesn't want to--]

...why did you do it?

I asked Lysandre why he made Team Flare and why he decided genocide was the best solution. I wanted to understand. I don't. I still don't understand, at all. But maybe you can make me understand why you flooded everything, since you're alive and I killed- he's dead.

[Nice save, Jean-Yves.]

I thought I could make a better world, fix what I thought was wrong with it.

[not gonna touch on the "killed" part for now.]

I didn't want to hurt anyone, but I was too far gone at the time to realise that there was no way people wouldn't have been hurt. I think maybe I didn't even care, because I was so convinced I was right.

[he sighs.]

Fortunately, not much was flooded. I was stopped by a young trainer much like you. I'm lucky I survived to have a second chance and try to fix things.

Lysandre wanted to fix the world. He said it had become rotten and lacking in resources, and he was going to make it all better. He knew it was going to kill most of the world, but that was fine to him.

I don't know if you not trying to kill people on purpose makes it alright, but it has to count for something in the end.

Did you fix things, in the end?

[he shakes his head.]

I don't know if it does. I heard more Pokémon came to Hoenn after, which I'm all for, but I don't know. I realised what I wanted was wrong from the ground up.

You realized you were wrong. That's more than a lot of people can say. And you were stopped before it became a catastrophe. All you can do now is try to be better than you were.

It was over a year ago for me. Believe me, I'm trying. More than anything.

I believe you. But Lysandre and Team Flare were barely a day ago for me so try to bear with me if I can't shake the feeling everything's going to go wrong again. I almost lost my best friends, the region I'd come to call home and my team. And I'm not entirely convinced this isn't some kind of dying fever dream.

I understand. Do you want to talk about it, or anythin'? I know I'm probably not the best person for it, but...

I don't know. Maybe not over video? And definitely not in front of my Pokemon. When I'm upset, they're upset, and this whole transition is hard enough for them as it is.

Y--yeah. That makes sense. Doesn't have to be anytime soon either, obviously. Just whenever you want.

Maybe sometime tomorrow, when I've had some sleep. I haven't gotten much of that, lately. [The end of the world, or near end, wasn't condusive to a good night's sleep.]
