Hello.

[yes, hi. it's kind of overcast today? but not bad. nice enough to be outside here in chilly ol' Maurtia Falls.]

I've been informed by a good number of people that the season will be changing soon. And that it can be quite a sight out in the countryside, just outside the city proper. Would you say that's true? I'd like to see a lovely spring again. I hope it can be as much that as it could be peaceful, considering how...hectic life can be in this world.

The snow is fine, and even the warm climes farther south of here are pleasant as well, but... There's something special about spring, I feel. One where things refresh and renew, making the whole place feel and even smell different.

[her thoughtful smile twitches into a self-conscious grin as she looks from the sky back down to the screen.]

Is that naive of me to hope here? I'll hardly hide how still new I am to the world at large here.

Lucina, sir. [there's a little chuckle in her breath.] My thoughts have been mostly on the land -- the plants and trees and the like. What else would there be here so affected?

Some people do speak metaphorically, that's all. But if it's the plants you're after - yeah, you'll see a lot of them. Though if you're in the north, it'll be quite a while yet.

Ah, truly? [frown.] Even the folks who speak about the weather on television were speaking of a kind of..."countdown to spring." Perhaps I misheard the proper number.

But it's possible my luck will still grant I stay here long enough to see. That's what I'd hope for, in any case.

Have you not got spring at home?

[fauxmarth]

The changing of the seasons did happen, yes. Some time ago. [her expression shifts a little to something a little somber, but her voice is still light.] I don't doubt some things still changed with the passage of time like that, but I hadn't the time to seek it out of late.

[aaand there won't be any more springs there for her or anyone else living. but...at least there'll still be flowers. thanks to Odin. her mouth quirks a little at that thought, shaking her head to clear the little moment of melancholy.]

In any case, with how wildly different this world is in so many ways already, I would assume this could be one more thing on the list. Horseless vehicles, buildings made of glass and steel... [with good humor:] Not to mention the matter of powers ascribed to so many, seemingly without rhyme or reason. For all I know, "spring" here could mean things start moving backward or turning upside-down!

Ah, your world sounds like mine - other than the lack of seasons, of course. You're not from one of these wasteland worlds, are you?

[oh, here's a familiar voice. chuckles a little.]

I suppose that's a compliment? Though-- what makes you say so?

Oh, you know. You're cheerful. Optimistic. The type that would enjoy a backdrop of flowers and small woodland creatures.

[Lucina blinks, silently staring for a beat.

but then she laughs.]

Really? Gods, I know a few people who fit such a descriptor far better than I do...! [hah! hoo, but. hey. let's chill out here. ahem.] That is--I suppose I'm flattered I come off that way. I would've never considered it, myself.

Well, to be fair, I guess I don't know you that well. First impressions though.

Fair, indeed. And there are worse impressions to be left with, so I'll take it.

[a beat. she tilts her head, unable to keep curiosity in check. this is the incredible healing woman, after all.]

How have you been, since our chance encounter?

Spring will come in about a week, yes. The city park can be quite beautiful during spring, but places with more trees and plants will offer a lot more.

Is it your favorite season?

[fauxmarth]

[she waves a little, nodding.]

If I had to choose, yes. But there's something lovely about all of them, from what I remember. Even here, the snow was quite magical.

How about you, Kaneki?

So you had four seasons back in your world as well?

Hm- I don't have any specifically. I do enjoy Autumn, when leaves start changing their colors.

[fauxmarth]

Four...in some places, yes. An autumn with leaves changing, yes. But Ylisse can hardly boast the levels of snowfall our northern neighbors receive, nor the brutal heat our western borders skirt along.

That--that's actually strange to consider, come to think. I thought my home world so very, very alien to this, but maybe there's a bit more alike than I've noticed before. [with a little chuckle:] The flying vehicles distracted me from noticing!

I suppose different worlds do have different seasons. It depends a lot on how close to the sun a planet would be.

[ he makes a small amused sound ] There is a lot that is rather distracting in this place, I'll give you that.

[fauxmarth]

Much and more, Kaneki. [she shakes her head.] I feel a little silly myself, still getting caught off-guard by things here. I wonder if I'll get used to it at all.

[head tilt.] But that just makes it more worthwhile, I think? A good opportunity, in any case, to see and try new things. I doubt there's a lot of farm festivals in a busy, crowded city, are there.

I don't think it's naive at all— it's actually new for me too so hopefully we will get to see a bit of Spring in this place.

[her eyebrows raise with an unspoken really? at that admission. but there's a good idea that follows:] What say you and I go and see some of the springtime sights as they bloom? There's a place some miles in the country beyond Maurtia Falls I know of -- and even discovered an old home within the woods!

Oh— really? Yeah, that would be nice actually.

[leaning toward the screen, conspiratorially:] We best devise a way so that perhaps Iris may join us; she can't be cooped up, trapped by those piles of papers on her desk ta the clinic! What say you to that?

Oh— yeah, that's a great idea. It definitely seems like she could use a break.

[fauxmarth]

More than one, to be certain. Please do be mindful of her when next you're at the clinic; she's apt to bury herself in work before complaining or asking for aid. [a little sigh with the shake of her head.] For all the ways one can find themselves overwhelmed, my wish is it's not that, at least.
