[One teenage girl with long brown hair draped down the sides of her face is staring at her new phone incredulously. Her tone one of disbelief and sarcasm.]

"Don't worry, we're the [Insert air quotes here] 'good guys'"? Seriously? Talk about mega government conspiracies. I'm not buying any of that bullshit.

[There's a pause as she reaches for something off camera]

First thing's first, if anyone has a lighter I can borrow, I want to burn the shit out of this file. [she waves the back of her personnel file in front of the camera briefly] I don't know how they got my information but I'm not about to share it. And if someone can lend me enough cash for a flight to Los Angeles, it'll be great.

[she turns away from the phone, seemingly about to end her message before turning back]

Oh, right. If you're my roommate, I only have one rule: Don't touch my stuff.

Literally? How would you know other people's fears?

I don't know. I just sense them. Like, all the time.

[ another awkward beat. ]

My dad's the demon lord of nightmares or something stupid like that. So. A part of me kinda feeds on it. The fear, I mean.

[quite flippantly:] Cool.

Look, you're obviously uncomfortable about it so you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to.

[ he squints at her through the feed a bit skeptically. ]

Did you just say "cool?"

Do you normally react that way when someone tells you they're basically a Satanic cult baby with the world's shittiest powers?

Dunno. Never met that many people with supernatural powers.

Seriously? I'm kinda tempted to ask what's wrong with you, except it's almost nice to have somebody not freak out.

Right. They're probably hoping you outgrow it.

Whatever. As far as I can tell, there's nothing wrong with you.

I figure you're probably not as messed up as me. Could probably work on your idea of what's "cool" though.

[she shrugs] What else do you want me to say? I doubt you want a pity party over it.

Nope. Pretty good at throwing pity parties solo, thanks though.

Yeah. Guess so.
