[ Starr kicks off the video in Chilton's office, sitting at his desk. Chilton's nameplate has been replaced with another one reading: Dr. Herr K. Starr ]

It seems Doctor Chilton has ported out. So until further notice, I will be taking over the Maurtia Falls Psychiatric Hospital for Abnormal Conditions. Staff is to immediately report to me for evaluation and policy updates.

For the time being, we will not be accepting patients unless in the most dire of circumstances -- in which case, I will be able to implement shock therapy. In my humble opinion, such therapy does work best when placed upon ones genitals, but I will leave that up to the patient.

[ He pulls out a notepad, puts on Chilton's reading glasses, and picks up an entirely too fancy pen. ]

Now simply because we will not immediately be taking patients does not mean we cannot get you in the system. So let's start this with the basic question most psychiatrists are sure to ask: what is your deepest, darkest sexual fantasy?

Creatively? Or abstractly... That's a really broad word. Medical professionals aren't really known to speak 'broadly'. Are you sure you have the right experience to be doing this job?

I am only the substitute psychiatrist until Dr. Chilton returns. No doubt he will return.

Do people come back that often?

Yes. For as many who disappear permanently, there are just as many who will only vanish briefly and return after a day or two. Usually it's to live out a bit longer in their world or to have their powers modified in some way. But some have been known to disappear simply because.

Is it still them, or another version of them?

Most of the time it's still them. Sometimes it will be another version of them -- lacking their memories. But for the large part, if you see someone return, chances are they will recall their stay in this world.

...right. I won't be seeing some other not so similar version of me running around will I? I guess I'd just feel sorry for him. [He cracked a dark joke though wouldn't add a laugh to follow.]

Two versions of one person cannot exist in this world at the same time. The porter has some sense of coherency in that way.

Although there have been instances where imPorts have been cloned. So you may experience something to that end.

I was not here when it happened, but from what I gather -- that organization that stands against imPorts, the OTO, was able to create clones of imPorts. These clones didn't last terribly long, but they lasted long enough to create lasting damage to certain imPort reputations.

'Last long' presents appealing imagery...

[He says sarcastically as his frown deepens.]

Is this organization still around that we know of?

They are, yes.

[ At the least, Starr spares him the gruesome details about how the clones disintegrated. ]

The branch responsible for the clones was taken care of. But the overarching organization is still in place. In fact, they launched a missile strike just recently against one of our porter cities. We were forced to repeat that day over and over again until we came up with a solution on how to prevent the strike from occurring. It took approximately a week.

[Why would you spare him those details?? Those seem like details you should KNOW!]

But with all these "heroes" around, how is that possible? What solution was found?

I do not actually know. I was not involved with the team who put an end to the ordeal. And as far as I am aware, no one made an official announcement detailing what transpired.

But do you see now why this world is a mess in need of a change?

I won't argue against change. But how change happens matters. For the worst isn't the goal. I've seen change enough in the wrong direction to know that.
